24% off for 24 hours
Dear friends and Heray Spice community,

Anita Salehi here — and I’m writing because tomorrow at midnight, something we started 71 days ago finally comes to an end.

On June 20th, we launched our Saffron Extract — the classic tincture and the new alcohol-free drops — and we made a promise: a 24% launch discount as a thank you to everyone willing to try something we’d never made before. We said it would be temporary.

For 71 days, we’ve kept that price. Tomorrow, we keep the other half of the promise.

Why these drops exist?

We built these extracts to answer one question: how do you bring Herat saffron into a daily ritual, without the fuss of steeping threads?

Every bottle starts with the same Super Negin threads you know — hand-picked at dawn in Herat when the crocus opens, dried in family-run sheds, ISO 3632.2 & HPTLC lab-tested for purity before a single bottle is filled. The classic tincture uses an alcohol base. The alcohol-free drops use vegetable glycerin and mountain spring water — 48.5mg of saffron per 3mL dropperful, gentle enough for anyone who can’t or won’t do alcohol.

Same golden color. Same deep, earthy warmth. A dropperful in your tea, your coffee, your golden milk — or just water, at the end of a long day.

Grab Saffron Extract — 24% Off (final 24 hours)

Dear friends and Heray Spice community,

Mohammad Salehi here again — with news I’ve been waiting to share. Our freshest, loveliest batch of Madagascar vanilla beans yet is finally back in stock.

Some packages you open with a box cutter. Others you open slowly, because you already know what’s waiting inside.

Last week a shipment arrived at our Ravenswood facility, and before I had even cut the tape, the whole room knew what it was. That aroma - deep and sweet, like warm dates and honey - found its way out of the box before the beans did. I stood there a moment longer than I needed to. If you’ve ever opened a fresh tin of our saffron, you know exactly the feeling.

So I’m happy to tell you: our Grade A Madagascar vanilla beans  are back in stock, and this is the most beautiful lot we have ever packed.

Let me thank you. Thank you for being with us in each phase of this journey.

Every summer, people ask me — where did the saffron go?
The fields in Herat look abandoned. Dry. Silent.
But our farmers just smile. Because they know what’s happening beneath their feet.
The saffron corm is dormant. And dormancy is not sleep — it’s preparation. Through the hottest weeks of the year, each corm is forming next season’s flower, thread by thread, in the dark.
This is why saffron loves our land. The dry heat that would wither other crops is exactly what saffron needs.
Then autumn comes. The nights turn cold. And one morning, before dawn, the fields turn purple.
Everything you see at harvest was already there in summer — waiting.
Summer builds the flower. Fall sets it free.
From our family farms in Herat, to your kitchen — this is Heray Spice.

Dear friends and community of Heray Spice,

Anita Salehi here.

There are moments in a journey when something truly special comes to life — and today, we’re honored to share one of those moments with you.

Growing up in Herat, saffron was never shaken out of a jar. It was ground — a few threads, a pinch of sugar, the slow rhythm of a small brass pestle. Before the rice was even on the stove, the whole kitchen already smelled like saffron.

That little ritual is why today’s email means so much to me.

We only have 97 units in stock. {well, I took the other 3 😀}.

I’ll be honest with you: this one took us two years to say yes to.

Two years of hesitation. I think it was worth the wait.

This is the traditional design you’d find in kitchens from Herat to Istanbul to Delhi — solid brass, polished until it catches the light like something from an old bazaar.

And the small size isn’t a compromise. It’s the point. Saffron is too precious for a big mortar, where threads scatter and cling to the sides. This one is sized to crush a few strands into fine powder with nothing left behind — releasing more color, more aroma, and more flavor into your dish.

Grab one now.

Saffron Threads Extract vs. Saffron Flower Extract

Not all saffron extracts are created equal.

Saffron threads extract is made from the actual saffron stigmas—the precious red threads that are carefully hand-harvested from the saffron flower. These threads contain the naturally occurring compounds that make saffron valuable, including crocin, picrocrocin, and safranal.

By contrast, products marketed as “saffron flower extract” may refer to extracts made from other parts of the flower rather than the premium red stigmas. The flower itself is not the same as the saffron threads, and using the entire flower or lower-value floral material can result in a very different raw material and chemical profile.

Why saffron threads matter

The red saffron threads are the premium part of the saffron flower. They are the part traditionally harvested, dried, graded, and tested for saffron quality. High-quality saffron should be identified by the actual stigma threads—not simply by the presence of saffron flowers or floral material.

Our saffron extract is made from 100% genuine saffron threads—not flowers, petals, or filler floral material. This gives us better control over the raw material, traceability, authenticity, and consistency of the extract.

We believe premium saffron should start with premium saffron raw material: real saffron threads, carefully harvested and selected for quality, then extracted to preserve the naturally occurring saffron compounds.

When you are buying a saffron extract, don’t just ask whether it contains saffron. Ask: Which part of the saffron flower was actually extracted?

Saffron threads. Always.

Scientific research confirms saffron naturally boosts serotonin and melatonin production, leading to improved sleep quality.

We’re actually seeing a big shift among first-time buyers of our saffron: More and more people are consuming saffron in an evening beverage to combat sleeping problems.

Simply steep 30 threads into warm milk or tea 1 hour before bed to try it yourself.
