We’ve received so many messages and texts asking about our pumpkins this year, and we’ll be the first to admit we’ve slacked a little! 🥴

But we have a pretty good excuse! We’d like to introduce y’all to the newest member of Marsh Cattle Farm, Stetson! 💙

Stetson made his arrival right around pumpkin planting time, so between adjusting to life with a new baby and everything else going on around the farm, we didn’t get nearly as many pumpkins planted as we normally do. Then the summer drought hit and really took a toll on what we did plant.

We had hoped to open the first two weekends of October, but Mother Nature had other plans and gave us rain both weekends!

With all that being said, we still ended up with some great pumpkins, and we’d love for y’all to come get them!

🐮✨ How We Produce Miniature Cows at Marsh Cattle Farm ✨🐮

One of the questions we get ALL the time is…
“How do you get cows so small?!” 💛

At Marsh Cattle Farm, our miniature calves are produced using a special breeding method called Embryo Transfer (ET) — allowing us to carefully pair top miniature genetics while keeping everyone safe and healthy.

Here’s how it works 👇

🌟 Step 1: Choose a True Mini Donor Cow
We select one of our best miniature females — chosen for small size, structure, temperament, and overall quality.

💉 Step 2: Help Her Produce Multiple Eggs
She receives a short hormone protocol that allows her to release several eggs instead of just one.

🐂 Step 3: Breed to a Miniature Bull
We use semen from carefully selected miniature bulls to ensure the calves stay within true mini size standards.

🧬 Step 4: Embryo Collection
About a week later, fertilized embryos are safely collected from the donor cow — no surgery needed.

💕 Step 5: Transfer to Recipient Moms
Those embryos are placed into larger, calm recipient cows who carry the pregnancy and deliver the calf.

🐄 Why Use Larger Recipient Cows?

✔️ Safer pregnancy and delivery
✔️ Strong, healthy calves
✔️ Allows our tiny donor cows to stay comfortable
✔️ Lets us produce multiple miniature calves in one year

✨ The calf’s size is determined by its genetics — not by the size of the cow carrying it.

We welcomed our 3rd Highland calf. We’re pretty positive he’s going to be a miniature!! He’s definitely the cutest one so far. 💙
