Proud, confused, excited, concerned, intoxicated, smitten. I pushed it this year and it happened to be worth it 🥴. Stay hungry and we’ll keep farming folks!

WOW. Day one of the Burns Blossom Farm plant sale is officially in the books, and Mel and I are somewhere between exhausted and absolutely mindblown!

Prepping for our first big event at the new farm had us both a little unhinged. It always feels crazy and impossible to pull off a weekend event in the midst of the peak spring growing season. But then you all showed up, and suddenly every bit of it made sense.

The turnout blew us away. The kind words had us glowing and the number of people demanding we make this a monthly thing? Consider the seeds planted.

We still have thousands of plants out here with absolutely nowhere to be. Tomatoes, herbs, peppers, cucumbers, melons, flowers, the works. And because Mel & Bri cannot help themselves, there are also fresh baked treats waiting for you. They baked more, of course they did!

Join us for our annual PLANT SALE!

This Saturday, April 18th & Sunday, April 19th.
10am-2pm.

We’ll have tomatoes big and small, sweet peppers, spicy peppers, basil, beans, melons, cucumbers, squash, lettuce, flowers, basil & other herbs, just about everything for a summer of good eating.

We sell tried and true varieties that we’ve had great success with locally. These starts are healthy, happy and organically grown because you and your family deserve the best!

This year we are excited to host for the first time at our new (and forever) location:
1791 Santa Clara Ave, Chico CA. 95928

There is parking along the road out front and we have carts and helpers if you need help carrying out your plants to your car!

Sorry NO DOGS! We love furry friends, but leave them at home please!

Ya’ll we have a whole LIST of attractions this year:

-On Saturday Kyle will be leading a free farm tour at 11:00am. Come see the new farm up close and personal, drool over the new infrastructure, learn about what we’ve been up to and how we do things around here!

-As always Mel and her friend Bri will be doing a bake sale with lots of homemade treats (so many gluten-free options!)

-Our favorite party-chef Maverick Watson will have freshly made ginger-garlic Chicken Yakitori & Onigiri for sale on Saturday! No one needs to shop hungry.

-Our friend and local artist Sean Peeler will be set up doing Tintype photographs in our beautiful blackberry rows on Saturday! This is a wonderful opportunity to have a tintype made of you and your loved ones at an affordable price. $50 for a 4” x 5” tintype. .peeler

*Our Spring Plant sale is a fundraiser for our farming season. Not only will you be going home with beautiful vegetable starts but you will be directly supporting our small family farm. We are building a strong well-fed community together!

Happy birthday to my Mel, and yes, her name fits perfectly, because this woman is pure raw unfiltered wildflower honey. Not the generic one dimensional store-bought kind in the little bear bottle. But the raw, straight from the hive in a hollow log in an oak woodland, makes everything better kind of sweet, sweet magic.

She blooms in every season. She holds this family together like our soil holds roots. She is the reason the season. We are all just bees orbiting our queen.

I love you Mel. Happy birthday to the sweetest flower on the farm.

Yes it’s been 90 degrees in March and we know y’all are going crazy to get your hands in some soil! Start prepping your garden beds and join us the weekend of April 18th & 19th for our annual spring plant sale. 10am-2pm

Quick little Sunday arrangement to get your attention- we’re doing an impromptu flower farmstand pop-up at our farm today. 1791 Santa Clara Ave. We have lots of ranunculus, anemones and daffodils, just pay with Venmo. Thanks for buying local!💕

Every year I find myself ruminating on the bounty of spring and the promises it brings. Here in California’s northern Sacramento Valley, false spring arrives often and unpredictably. Tomorrow we’re forecast to hit 78°F and I’m already feeling a bit flustered.

The weather yo-yo seems to get more extreme every year, bringing plenty of stress and second-guessing when it comes to planting and field prep. But like we always do, we keep rolling the dice.

Our first tomatoes are officially in the ground (protected culture), though we nearly lost them to a freeze a couple weeks ago. The good news: we’re on track for our earliest tomato harvest yet. Dare I say… the end of April?!!

Stay tuned as the soil warms and flowers are pollinated. So much excitement for the season ahead. LETSSSSSSSSS GROW.
