Farm to Table: providing local restaurants/bars with fresh produce and herbs My name is Graham Matter the owner/operator of this start up farm. Currently I have a full time job and farm full time afterwards. Previously a Chef who started urban farming with microgreens, hydroponics and backyard growing. Now I've expanded to

5 acre property here on Alum Cliff Road, Chillicothe where I will expand my operations and enterprises so I can provide more to my community instead just a few families and neighbors. I've always had passion for making and growing food since I was a little kid. Before the internet, I walked half hour to the public library and bring back a mountain of gardening books each week. I still have that passion to learn and experience how to grow things.

New lesson in gardening happened last night. Went to check the garden last night at midnight with a feeling the deer were in there because I still have to stretch 500 more feet of fencing. I went barging in, calling my dog to get them. Sure enough, saw 2 sets of glows eyes dashing for it. And a third going the opposite direction. They were bouncing off the new fencing left and right. While I was chasing them throwing rocks, my dogs thinking we playing fetch. 🤦🏻. Idea of traumatizing the deer so they don’t come back turned out bad. Instead of running out the one side that was wide open one busted right throw the corner mangling the fence to the point I had to cut out that section and put up new fencing. One somehow must have stumbled while bouncing off the fence despite there was no fence 4 feet from it and slipped through the two sections of fence that was connected yet. The last one was at the opposite side of the garden ping ponging off the fence despite there was no door at the gate. 🤦🏻. Lesson is not to spook them when they are inside the fence unless you want your fence wrecked. Good side, I found my weak points before I finished the fence and the deer are not trying to jump over the fence.

Thanks everyone for a great first day of the 4th Annual Community Plant Sale event. Next event is this Saturday May 9th. (Day before Mother’s Day) 2-5pm after the Chillicothe Farmers Market. Wounded Goose food truck will there.
