Calves eye view of loading up to go to pasture.

Low stress stockmanship is the name of the game here. This is the first trip these calves have taken through our handling facility. Taking things slow and gentle pressure made quick work loading 41 calves in under 5 minutes.

Thats the one we've been looking for 🔎

Officially done calving for the year. This little lady made us wait a few more days than planned. Our count ended at 37 bull calves and 28 heifer calves.

From now until weaning we're pretty hands off on the calves. Green grass and their mothers milk will add a few hundred pounds before the next time we get them across the scale and the next round of great beef begins.

Can't beat this feeling 😎

Its official cows and calves are out to pasture for the year. After sorting and matching pairs this morning we hauled one group across the road and opened the gate here at home for the rest. Definitely the day we look forward to most each spring, and the cattle seem to enjoy it too😉

Little rainy morning catchup here. 🌧

The last week has been a bit of a blur, we got field work done and crops planted on Monday. One of our yearling bulls delivered to Anitgo. Yearling data collected and sent off to the American Simmental association. Pasture prep is in full swing, with some posts replaced and some layouts updated to improve cattle flow.

Like the rain its nice to sit back and soak it all in once and awhile. Down to 2 cows left to calve.....they're much more patient than we are 😅

That's big enough ⚖️

Calf #61 for the year is a whopper. Our average birthweight this year is running just under 84lbs. Pretty much right where we want to be.

This guy exceeds the average dropping in at 112lbs. His mother is an 8 year old cow and is definitely not small, she had him unassisted and popped up shortly after the video ends.

4 more to go for calving season 2026...Hopefully a little closer to average size.😅

Tangy Lime Grilled Round Steak🥩

Our first new recipe for May Beef Month came straight from Beeftips.com!

Definitely a great way to fill the grill, round steak is a leaner cut that we love to use fajitas or another recipe with thinly sliced beef. This tangy marinade stands on its own and made for a great dinner.
