Let’s take a moment to reflect

You can prep all you want at home and haul to practice but the show pen is new and different and your horse can still act up.

You can think you’ve fixed and tuned the issues and as soon as the situation changes you find new holes

You can be upset a run didn’t go well but you should be grateful you got to participate and gain knowledge and exposure for you and your horse.

You can think the world is against you but remember there are people cheering for you.

Our Benji boy is ready for his new home

RARENS POCO POSH

We love this horse but we don’t have the outside miles he enjoys and I want to show and he gets to anxious in the show ring by himself so, as much as it sucks, he needs a more suitable home.

He’s done the ranch jobs, he’s worked the feedlot, he’s broke in the arena, he’s good to haul, he just doesn’t like an indoor arena confinement is about all I gotta say. He loves kids, I wouldn’t hesitate to pony a little one on him or let a confident or adult on him, he’s just got a big stride and motor.
Loves his cow work, he tracks them, he’s done some breakaway training, he’s doctored in the pens, etc

He’s a Good all around horse that likes a job or a leisure ride, he’ll be a great family horse or keep him for using on the ranch for big circles and whatnot.

Ryan finally settled in a little more today I was really proud of him!

AQHA/VRH Jr Ranch Trail scored 50

Ryan had never seen a rope let alone drag anything until a week ago when the pattern was posted so I didn’t have any expectations for the rope and log drag today. And I’m ok with that. But he was willing to pick up his leads and went through the pattern fully and I’m happy with how he’s adjusted. His little jump over the log was adorable too 🥹

The classic Benji tongue

AQHA/VRH Jr Ranch Trail scored 47.5

He was still a nervous wreck but I was more content that he was a little more willing, we Did pick up the lope and we Did go through the whole course.
Craziest part? The rope was a no go. I promise he has done about everything with a rope in a practical use settle but god forbid picking it up today and trying to drag the log was a hard pass… really frustrating but again, decided to not pick a fight.

Benji showing in the NILE AQHA/VRH Jr Ranch Reining and Cow work

Scored 43 reining and 50.5 in cow

This was Benjis third time to town… You can prep all you want at home but a new arena and new environment will always put your colts to the test. The judges were scary, the banners were scary, and the photographer was scary. But it’s ok. We didn’t get disqualified and we completed the pattern!

Not that it matters much but Benjis warm up was pretty flawless in my books, he was riding soft and quiet and framed up, so it did kill me that he turned into a nervous wreck going into the class but oh well..

The cow work I was super pleased with quite honestly, I was surprised how much stop and turn he offered going down the fence.
