Sasha christened her transport cage on the way to meet up with her new owner. 💩If you didn’t already know, emus p**p more than they eat. 😂😂

Her new mom is super nice, and I know Sasha will be well-loved. She will be joining some other young emus, so she won’t be lonely. That makes my heart happy. 😊

Sweet Sasha is going to her new home today. She is due to be picked up this evening, and I have to admit I am pretty sad to see her go. She is such a sweet girl & has been such good company for my little guy (name is still in the works). The two silkie hens I’ve put in their pen will have to keep him company for a while. He is going to miss Sasha so much.

Spending some time with these sweet babies so they’ll be chill & tame. 🤞🏼 The kids and I are working through a list of names for the boy since we’re keeping him. For now, I am calling the little girl Sasha until she gets a new owner & then they’re free to rename her. She is really sweet. They’ve also had their first EEE/WNV/tetanus vax.

Just wanted to give a plug for a local septic company! Our tank suddenly needed pumping yesterday, so I immediately (& desperately!) started calling septic services. Everyone told me it would be 2-3 days until they could get out here. I’d not heard of Gilbert's Septic Services before, but they were on my Google list of companies I was working my way through. They told me they would come out, but it might be evening. That’s fine-as long as it was same-day! Whew! The owner was one of the gentlemen who came out. He was very knowledgeable & explained things to me. He was honest and said my drain field was working perfectly & only needed pumped out & filter cleaned. I also need to remove a tree from directly over the septic tank. 🤦‍♀️
He could have told me any number of things to charge me more, yet he did not. I highly recommend this company.

Hanging out with the babies this evening. They’re so curious & very sweet. I love their little whistles, and it makes me so sad that they lose that when they’re older. BUT their adult noises are pretty darn cool!

A few pics from this morning: My sweet little boy emu chick-look at his pretty blue eyes! The little girl looks just like him but has a light brown spot on the back of her head.

The Buff Orpington flock had some free range time while the adult emus looked on.

Jiffy cat-she was dumped in my fenced back yard the day after Christmas. She was barely old enough to have weaned from her mama. She has turned into a great little huntress, so she stays around the farm. I had her spayed, rabies vax & an ear tip so everyone knows she is fixed. Technically she isn’t mine. 🫣

Sweet little white emu babies! The female is ready to go to a new home (she’s the one I’m petting in the video). I’m keeping the male because I have an unrelated female I can pair him with when he grows up. 😍
