🖤 Something we’ve been quietly working on this season… Fibro Eggers! 🖤🐣

We’re excited to finally share a little peek at a new project here at Pine Tree Lane Hens! These four beauties are from our very first Fibro Egger hatch this spring—two cockerels and two pullets—and we’re really enjoying watching them develop.

Our Fibro Eggers are a first-generation cross between our Multigenerational Olive Eggers and a Svarthöna rooster, bringing together the colorful egg genetics of our Olive Egger program with the striking fibromelanistic traits of the Svarthöna.

Now comes the fun part… waiting to see what color eggs these pullets will lay! 🫒💚🥚 With the genetics behind them, we’re especially curious to see what surprises their first eggs may bring.

And these four aren’t the only ones! We have several more younger Fibro Eggers growing out in the brooder, so we’ll have plenty to watch and evaluate as this project continues.

🥚 Want to hatch some of your own? Eggs from this project are currently being included in our Olive Egger hatching egg dozens, so you may just hatch one of these unique little birds yourself!

We can’t wait to see where this project takes us. Stay tuned as they mature—and you know we’ll be sharing those first eggs when they arrive! 🖤💚

I’m still in denial that summer is flying by and fall is just around the corner! 😅 But one thing I do love about fall is that it’s the perfect time to start planning for next year’s egg basket.

🐣 Hatch Day was yesterday at Pine Tree Lane Hens! 🐣

Fresh out of the incubator, we welcomed another beautiful group of chicks:

These little ones are off to a great start and, if you bring them home now, they’ll be ready to start laying around next May—giving you a head start on next year’s egg season!

💡 Have a broody hen that just won’t quit? Sometimes adding day-old chicks can encourage her to redirect all that mothering instinct into raising a family instead of sitting on an empty nest. While this can be a great option, it doesn’t work with every hen. Be prepared to closely supervise introductions and have a brooder ready in case she doesn’t accept the chicks.
