Yesterday was an anticipated smaller hatch, but we still had some adorable new arrivals join the brooder!

• 1 Olive Egger (Back Cross to Marans)
• 2 Black Copper Marans

⚠️ Fertility Update (Important):
We’re still seeing expected lower-than-ideal fertility with our Olive Eggers and Marans. As always, we want to be transparent and give you options if you currently have hatching egg orders:

👉 Option 2: Get eggs now – Buy One Dozen, Get One Dozen FREE
• With the understanding this reflects the current lower fertility rates. No guarantees offered.

• Our new cockerels are growing well and will help improve fertility once mature

🐣 Hatch Day Update from Pine Tree Lane Hens! 🐣

Yesterday was hatch day, and it’s always an exciting (and humbling) reminder of how nature works! Some breeds did better than others this round, which we expected given current flock dynamics.

As anticipated, fertility was lower in our Marans and Olive Egger Back Crosses with only one rooster covering those hens. The good news—our new Marans cockerels that we had shipped in are doing fantastic! They’ve successfully moved from quarantine into their transition pen and will soon be fully integrated into the flock. Once they reach maturity, we expect fertility to improve significantly… and yes, they’ve already started practicing their crowing 😆🐓

Here’s what hatched:
✨ 17 Vorwerks
✨ 7 Barnevelders
✨ 6 Olive Eggers
✨ 1 Marans

We’ve got more babies on the way!
📅 Next (smaller) hatch due in 4 days
📅 Another hatch scheduled for May 11th

And the incubators keep rolling—tonight we’re setting 28 more eggs for a projected hatch around May 15th/16th, including this beautiful dozen of Olive Eggers and Back Crosses 😍

As always, we appreciate your patience as we work through early-season fertility fluctuations—it’s all part of raising quality birds and being transparent about the process.

✨ Vorwerk Fertility Update – Great News! ✨

We’re excited to share that on Day 6 after candling, our Vorwerk eggs are looking fantastic — 90% fertility (18 out of 20 eggs showing strong veining!) 🙌🐣

📦 Shipping Update:
We are now able to begin shipping Vorwerk hatching eggs (weather permitting).
We have one dozen ready to go out tomorrow!

If you currently have a deposit down and are ready to receive your eggs, please send us a private message to coordinate your shipment.

🥚 Other Breeds Update:
Due to darker shell coloring, we have not yet been able to successfully candle:
• Barnevelders
• Marans
• Olive Eggers

We’ll need about two more weeks to properly verify fertility on those breeds.

First test hatch is officially underway in the Brinsea! 🐣✨

We’ll begin candling eggs in 7–10 days to check fertility. Any breeds showing 90% fertility or higher will be cleared for us to start filling hatching egg orders. 🤞🏼
