We are closing down for the season. We will be expanding the garden over the winter so we can offer produce next year and will be starting a fresh batch of chickens in the spring. Stay tuned and I’ll try to be better at providing updates along the way. Thank you all for supporting us!

It’s been far too long since my last update as I didn’t want to admit this. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the produce expansions have been delayed until next year. Having a full time job that pays the bills, a family of five, and my wife’s very successful side business keeps us busy. When life happens, you have to prioritize and the expansion was put on hold because my family comes first. No worries though, we are all doing fantastic. I will share some great news though, my dad and stepmom will be moving down from the upper peninsula of Michigan later this year, so we are also making arrangements for more family. Family is what matters most and that’s why you see it in the name of my farm. We still have whole frozen chickens available and will continue to offer them.

This weekend we got a few things done around the farm. I started by using Bambi (yes, that’s the name I gave my tractor) and dragged all five acres with the chain harrow to try and smooth things out a bit. Then I used my 20 year old, 40 gallon sprayer to put down 160 gallons of juice to hopefully get the sand burs under control. Next up was top dressing the garden area with some good dirt and tilling it in. Finally, we are trying our hand at using ground cover to try and keep the weeds at bay this year. As you can see, we have more to go, but we’re off to a good start 🤠

Yesterday I introduced my tractor that will allow us to maintain and grow our farm and in that update I mentioned that I used YouTube for some of my research. One of the channels I watched was Rockhill Farm as Brock has the same tractor I was interested in. After commenting on one of his videos, he reached out to me and ended up stopping by to shoot a video of my tractor setup. Use the link below to see more information on my tractor that is now more famous than I am 🤠

Last year we started the farm by offering whole frozen free range chickens. This year I’m hoping to be able to expand and offer fresh produce. This requires tools that allow us to be as proficient as possible with our time, so I did a lot of research to figure out what would work best for our needs. I enjoy watching YouTube videos, hearing directly from users about their experiences, and seeing how well a particular tool works out for them. So YouTube was part of the research I used for selecting a tractor for the farm and for general property maintenance. I’m excited to introduce to you the tractor that’s going to help us move the chicken tractor around and allow the expansion into offering fresh produce. Here’s my John Deere 2038R tractor with the attachments we need to get started on this ambitious expansion.
