Bayou Pierre and EFBeef are thrilled to announce that EFBeef B413 Validated J826 has completed testing in the Olsen Sire test. Excellent results; improvement for birth to yearling growth spread, group average for dry matter intake, 944 # average hot carcass weight (2nd best), with 100% upper 2/3 choice, 50% Prime on the steers. A bull that is now $548 BMI and $250 CHB ( #2 sire in the breed). He's a bull that will make moderate momma cows and heavy weight, high grading steers. J826 was born from a never miss, 10-yr old dam.

The World Hereford Conference Tour stops at Olsen Ranches in Harrisburg, Nebraska, on October 28, 2025! We would welcome you to join us to view the American Hereford Association's National Reference Sire Program operated at Olsen Ranches, Inc. and to meet Hereford breeders from around the world who will be visiting during the tour stop!

Since 1999, Olsen Ranches has been the primary test herd for the American Hereford Association’s National Reference Sire Program ("NRSP"), testing nominated Hereford bulls in large contemporary groups in real-life commercial production environs. In 2010, the ranch installed an individual feed intake system. In the last few years, the ranch added an individual water intake system, as well as technology to measure individual methane emissions and nitrogen excretion.

On Tuesday, October 28, the World Hereford Conference Tour bus will arrive at 12:30 pm at the Ranch headquarters. After lunch and a brief explanation of our program, you will be able to view fed steers born in 2024 that are on test or have come off test for feed efficiency. These steers will be harvested in January 2026. You will also be able to view the cows with their first calf on their side. You will also be able to view a sample of our replacement heifers.

We are enjoying the Fall calving season here at Schu-Lar Herefords, especially when we have scenery like this pair!
Schu-Lar EFBEEF B143 Dixie 35J, a Validated Daughter and her Rock Solid bull calf posed for us tonight. Schu-Lar Rock Solid marks them short and marks them right!
