Homemade Oreo-Style Cookies (A Farmers Market Favorite!)

You were right! We made Oreos… and they’re incredible. These soft, rich chocolate cookies with a creamy, just-sweet-enough cream cheese filling are hands down one of my family’s favorites. I used to make these growing up and now I make them for my own family

They’re easy to make, nostalgic, and guaranteed to disappear fast. Here's how to make them:

šŸ« Cookie Ingredients
2 boxes Devil’s Food cake mix
4 eggs
¾ cup oil

šŸ‘©ā€šŸ³ Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and oil.

3. Add the cake mix and stir until fully combined. The dough should be soft but not sticky — you should be able to pinch it without it leaving any residue on your fingers.

4. Scoop and roll the dough into small balls, place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

5. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until cracks start to appear on the tops.

6. Transfer to a cooling rack (I love the stackable ones from Amazon!) and let cool completely before filling.

šŸ„ Cream Cheese Filling
1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
1 tsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
A dash of salt
3–4 cups powdered sugar (adjust to your preferred sweetness)

Tip: If you forget to let the cream cheese soften, just place the sealed package in a bowl of warm water for about 10 minutes.

1. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.

2. Add milk, vanilla, and salt.

3. Slowly mix in powdered sugar until the filling is fluffy and sweetened to your taste.

šŸ’” To Assemble:
-Match up cookies by size.
-Spoon or pipe the cream cheese filling onto the flat side of one cookie, then sandwich it with another.
-These cookies are a hit every time. Whether you’re baking them for a crowd or keeping a secret stash for your family, they’re bound to bring smiles!

Let me know if you try them — and tag me if you share! šŸ–¤šŸŖ

Let’s Talk Meal Planning šŸ½ļø
There are a million tips out there, but here’s what I’ve found: when I’m really prepared—groceries bought, meals planned—I’m way less likely to eat out. And that alone makes a huge difference in how I feel, how we spend, and how our week flows.

Right now, I’m starting the Fast Metabolism Diet, so my meal planning looks a little different than usual. And honestly? I don’t really plan breakfast, snacks, or even lunch for the whole family. My house is kind of a fend-for-yourself situation for those meals. I make sure the kids have what they like and then they prep their own—it may not be traditional, but it cuts down on waste, saves time, and encourages independence.

A Few Things I’ve Learned Along the Way:

🩷Don’t plan meals you don’t love. You’ll dread making them and probably skip them.

šŸ’šAlways read reviews on new recipes. It’ll save you from wasting time on duds.

šŸ’›Cook smart. If you’re making rice, double it and plan for fried rice the next day.

🧔Use your grill wisely! I’ll often throw on extra chicken breasts, freeze them, and pull them out later for salads, pasta, or our favorite—grilled chicken and veggies (we’re obsessed and eat it weekly!).

ā¤ļøTheme nights help. Taco Tuesday, Sheet Pan Saturday—fewer decisions = less stress.

šŸ’œLeftovers are life. Plan to eat them, freeze them, or repurpose them.

šŸ¤Let your family help pick meals. It makes a big difference in attitude and effort.

šŸ–¤Have a ā€œbailout meal.ā€ Something simple you always have on hand (like eggs and toast or frozen veggie stir-fry) for nights where nothing goes to plan.

šŸ’–And lastly, give yourself grace. Takeout isn’t failure—it’s just life sometimes.

I’m currently off for the summer, so I’ve got a little more space to plan and prep. But I’ll definitely share a follow-up post on how I handle meal planning during the school year while working full-time. Because yep… it looks totally different.

If you’re curious how I keep track of it all, I’m sharing my FREE weekly meal planner (with a motto I love: Real food. Real plans. Real life.)
And if you want to do the Fast Metabolism Diet with me—let’s go! It’s always more fun with friends. šŸ’›

🌶 Salsa lovers, this one’s for you!
My Aunt Laura gave me this salsa recipe at my bridal shower years ago, and I’ve been making it ever since. It's been a total staple in our home—we literally always have a jar in the fridge.

I love chips and salsa at restaurants, but nothing beats this one. It’s fresh, flavorful, and honestly goes on everything—breakfast burritos, taco chicken in the crockpot, even as a marinade. So simple. So GOOD. šŸ˜‹

I’m sharing the full recipe today so you can have a little taste of our kitchen in yours šŸ’› Let me know if you make it!

Hello everyone!! It’s been forever-I’ve truly missed you!

Here’s a little life update: South Carolina has been so good to us. We love the warmer weather, the green trees, and honestly… we even love the humidity! 🌓

I’ve been juggling family life, crazy schedules, and working full time. I seriously don’t know how you amazing women do it all-balancing everything is exhausting!

But now that I’ve got the summer off, I’ve been thinking. I took a really long break from baking, and I miss it so much. While I can’t bring you delicious treats at the farmers market anymore, I thought- why not share some of your favorite recipes (plus a few of our family favorites) right here, so you can bring a little of that bakery joy into your own home? šŸ§šŸ’›

I’d love to breathe some new life into this page- sharing recipes, tips, tricks, and maybe even a few things to make life easier… because let’s be real, we all need that right now.

If you’re seeing this, please say hi šŸ‘‹ in the comments! And if you feel like it, give me a quick life update- I’d love to reconnect with you!
