🐔 EMPLOYEE OF THE WEEK: WATER BELLY 🐔
This week’s Employee of the Week is Water Belly! And yes… that really is her name. 😂
Water Belly is one of our original chickens. She came with the very first chicken coop we bought about 5 years ago, and she’s been here ever since.
Want to know where her name came from? Well, to be honest, we never actually named her until she developed a condition called “water belly.” If you don’t know what that is, look it up! 😳 We weren’t sure if she would recover after treating her, but here we are almost five years later, and Water Belly is STILL going strong!
Mindy even spotted her in one of the nesting boxes the other day. Pretty sure she hasn’t laid an egg in YEARS. 😂 And Mindy was honestly shocked that she could even fit in the nesting box! As you can tell from her picture, when she’s standing, you can barely see her feet.🐓
She’s also too big to jump up onto the roosting bars at night, so she has claimed a very important position: right inside the chicken coop door. 🐔🚪
She’s always the first chicken in the coop at night, and as the rest of the girls file through the door behind her, she pecks every single one of them as they come in.
So I guess you could say she’s Head of Coop Security. 😂
She’s big.
She’s grumpy.
She doesn’t lay eggs anymore.
She takes up WAY more than her fair share of space.
But she’s been with us from the beginning, and she’s still living the good life here on the farm. ❤️
Everybody needs a Water Belly in their flock! 🐔😂
