Our baby is quickly approaching!

If you’re a weekly shopper with us at the market, then you may want to stock up a little extra over the next few Saturdays!

Preorders may be the best option for anyone wanting to stock up to have enough beef for while I’m gone. I’ll have the normal selection for in-person shopping BUT you know some things go quickly if people are getting extra.

🗓️Market Schedule
*May 30th - at the market. Preorders open until 6pm tonight (Friday the 29th)
June 6th - not at the market
*June 13th - at the market. Preorders open until
6pm on Friday the 12th.

*These are your safest days to guarantee my attendance and your beef*

📦We should also be restocking the week of June 7th. The June 13th market will be a good option if you’re wanting to preorder something that you don’t see available right now 👀

I’m not anticipating to be at any markets in July, so please plan your shopping accordingly.

🚚For online orders:
We should be business as usual through June. I’ll be doing my best to get everything delivered to you before taking a little break with baby.

Movin’ cows pays!

Our momma cows are still grazing the “standing hay” I was able to grow this summer through rotational grazing. So far, I haven’t fed a single bale of hay to these cattle all winter!
No starting a tractor every day.
No muddy hay rings.
No sick calves.

Just cows grazing on as if it were summer.

Good Monday Morning! ☀️

Driving out in the pasture and seeing how the cows have been grazing on the stockpiled grass has been making me want to share this with you.

For those who don’t already know, I go out and give the cows a fresh strip of grass at least once a day probably 350 days out of the year. This not only helps to conserve grass and let it recover before the next grazing, but it also concentrates all of the natural fertilizer that comes out of the cattle.

Lots of farmers and ranchers are interested in and talk about soil health, but few actually know what results they see when the soil is improved. 🤷🏻‍♂️

In this photo you can see all of the dark manure piles the cows have left behind, along with all of their urine spots that you can’t see. Each one of these spots is going to stimulate and feed soil biology, resulting in drought resiliency and an increase in grass nutrition for the cows when they return to graze it again. 🌱

In a time where all farmers struggle with high synthetic fertilizer prices, I am glad to have cattle that deposit this natural (might i say free?) fertilizer on my pastures and not ever need to apply any synthetic fertilizer to grow nutritious grass.

Growing nutritious grass-fed beef is not easy, but working with nature makes it fun and rewarding! 🥩

📦Restock Update:

We hoped to have our beef back from the butcher this week & restocked in time for Lafayette Farmers and Artisans Market, but that isn’t the case.

We have to wait one more week!

We’re sorry for this delay. Sadly, butchering our cattle is the only step we cannot do here on the farm. It’s the only step out of our control.

If you’ve been waiting for something to be available, I promise it’s coming soon!

We’ll let you know as soon as we get everything added to our website and are back at the farmers market.

We can’t complain too much though. I saw a fellow beef producer say they weren’t going to be at their market because the butcher claims their beef carcass was stolen?! I can’t imagine their heartbreak.
