Even in a breeding pen she is still cute. It is so hard to capture a good picture of a black bird. She is a black bearded silkie frizzle and while I don’t like silkie frizzles, I have 2 exceptions as breeders. She’s one of them. This girl in condition has cushion for days, gorgeous tight wings (especially for a frizzle), and all the other whip cream and cherries on top of the sundae that she is. This girl is also the fattest silkie I own. I mean she is DENSE. I pick her up and she feels like a meat bird. This girl is eating good for sure. She’s sweet and a good mama. All the wonderful characteristics that I considered for my breeders.

Fun post! Where are you from and what do you breed?

We are currently in VA and breed Silkies and Satins in white, black, chocolate, self blue, black and chocolate mottled, buff, gray laced, and always have some project we are working on. We also breed Ameraucanas in ermine, black, self blue, chocolate, self blue ermine, and chocolate ermine. Occasionally we get dominant white also. Once in awhile we have marans, Cochins, and olive eggers also.

Beyond chickens we have peacocks, pigs, bunnies, and the occasional feral opossum.
