Chateau Foods Closure Announcement
Dear Valued Customers and Friends,
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closure of Chateau Foods, effective immediately. After 97 incredible years, the challenges of running a small family business have become too great to bear in today’s market.
Chateau Foods has a proud legacy, lovingly passed down through multiple generations. Despite our passion and dedication, we can no longer overcome the overwhelming obstacles we face. The condition of the building we rented to produce our beloved products has rendered it unworkable, and the ever-rising costs of essential ingredients like milk, eggs, and potatoes—further impacted by recent potato shortages—have forced us to make the difficult decision to close our doors.
Operating a family business in this climate has come with tremendous expenses. In addition to the standard costs of ingredients, labor, and shipping, we have faced steep slotting fees just to secure freezer space in stores. These mounting challenges have left us unable to sustain the business, even as we searched tirelessly for ways to adapt and modernize.
We explored every avenue, from seeking investors to finding copackers and modern machinery. Unfortunately, our handmade production process and unique equipment, like our one-of-a-kind bread cooker, would require significant resources and space that we simply don’t have or can afford.
Chateau Foods has always been more than a business. It has been a cherished part of countless family traditions, bringing comfort and joy through our liver and fruit dumplings, pizza dough, and of course our potato and The World-Famous Bread dumplings. We are profoundly grateful for the love and support you have shown us over the years and the many memories you have made with our products.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our Bubby’s handmade dumplings a treasured part of your family celebrations. We are thankful for every meal shared and every memory made together.
