Why We Show up. 💛

What can you buy with $4.70?

A latte. A bag of chips.

Or: a complete school lunch, meeting strict federal nutrition standards requiring fruits, vegetables, whole grains, protein and milk.

That’s right! Schools get just $4.70 to cover the cost of a lunch.

After paying for staff, equipment, utilities, supplies, and federal compliance, less than half goes to the actual food.

And every single morning, school cafeteria teams are showing up anyway.

🌽🍎 Calling All Young Artists! 🎨✨
The Ohio Farmers Market Network is hosting its First Annual Student Design Contest in celebration of National Farmers Market Week, August 2–8!
This year’s theme is:
“250 Ways to Love, Support and Participate in Ohio’s Farmers Markets”
Ohio students ages 5–18 are invited to submit a design that celebrates the importance of farmers markets, local foods, and supporting Ohio growers.
🏆 The student with the winning design will receive a $500 scholarship!
This is a great opportunity for students to show their creativity while celebrating Ohio agriculture and the many ways we can support local farmers and communities.

Yesterday we were fortunate to welcome Mr. Todd Shinkle from Tyson Foods to sample a new burger patty that we will be featuring next school year! 🍔🐺
A few of our students had the opportunity to be taste-testers, and based on their reactions, this one definitely earned the student seal of approval! ✅😋
We love giving our students a voice in menu planning and are always looking for ways to keep meals exciting, flavorful, and student-approved!

🎨🖌️ A huge thank you to the talented WCMS 8th grade art students for these amazing works of art! We are proud to display them in the South Kitchen for everyone to enjoy.
Our cafeterias are more than just a place to eat — they are part of our school community, and these student creations help make the space even more welcoming and inspiring. Great job to all of the student artists, and thank you for allowing us to showcase your incredible talent!! 👏🐺
