The people who are here today, greeting customers, stocking shelves, recommending their favorite products, and keeping everything running. And the many people who have worked at Madison's over the last 30 years, helping build the store into what it is today.

This is the time of year when my husband and I become "Parent A" and "Parent B." (Thanks, Brooke & Pete, for introducing us to the concept of A/B parenting!) Soccer on one side of town, school events on the other, resulting in two hungry teenagers.

🍉 Don’t let that watermelon go to waste!

If you’ve ever skipped buying a watermelon because you thought half of it would end up in the trash, I’ve got a tip: freeze the juice!

Fresh watermelon juice freezes beautifully and makes amazing cocktails and mocktails all year long.

I’m currently into Watermelon G&Ts:
🍸 2 oz Hendrick’s Gin
🍉 2 oz watermelon juice
🍋 A squeeze of lime 1/2oz
Mix, pour over ice (bonus points if it’s your husband’s “fancy” ice from his ice maker 😂), top with tonic or soda (our Sugar Babies are already super sweet) give it a quick swirl, and enjoy.

Summer doesn’t have to end when watermelon season does!

Always a conversation starter in the store. They are delicious!

Have you ever had a ground cherry? 🤔 Stop by Madison's at Findlay Market and grab some to try!

Also called husk cherries, they are in the nightshade family along with tomatoes and have a papery husk just like a tomatillo. They have a similar texture to cherry tomatoes, but they have a sweet and tart almost grape-like flavor. They’re great in salads, but they’re just as delicious to snack on straight from the carton. Madison’s sells these sweet treats while they’re in season for $5 a carton.

Funny how things happen. ❤️

A few weeks ago, Eric, the kids, and I were having lunch at Café Alma when Eric asked our server about the brand of her apron. One conversation led to another, and before we knew it, Lainey, the owner of Café Alma, came over to introduce herself.

As we chatted, she mentioned they had recently acquired Sweet Butter Bakery. The following week, she stopped by Madison’s with an incredible assortment of samples.

Well... one bite was all it took. 🍪

We're excited to announce that Madison’s is now carrying Rugelach and Thumbprint Cookies from Sweet Butter Bakery!

We're pretty sure you'll love them as much as we do. Stop in, pick some up, and tell us your favorite!

More Michigan inspiration! ☀️

If you ever find yourself near Traverse City, do yourself a favor and visit Farm Club. I’ve been crushing on this restaurant, bakery, and farm for seven years, and it never disappoints. Their charcuterie board is packed with fresh veggies, local fruits, cheese, and meats, making it perfect for hot summer days.

I swear I felt cooler eating it… or maybe being at Farm Club just made me cooler. 😎

Confession: I was on vacation last week... and thanks to our incredible team at Madison's, most of you probably didn't even notice. ❤️

My husband, kids, and I took our annual trip to Michigan, where we spent time with friends and enjoyed some much-needed time away.

But this year felt a little different.

Everywhere we went, I found myself drawn into the huge selection of specialty food stores and markets. Not just because I was looking for products, but because I was focused on how they told their story through design, merchandising, displays, and customer experience.

I guess that's what happens when you love what you do!
