Horticulture Club at UK

Horticulture Club at UK The University of Kentucky Horticulture Club encourages students from all backgrounds to come together and enjoy plants! Check out our sales and events 🌿🏵

Our student-led club focuses on education and enjoyment of plants, especially natives! The University of Kentucky Horticulture Club is a group of students and faculty members who work together to further interest and education in Horticulture. In addition to picking apples, making wreaths, working on the UK South Farm, and assembling terrariums, the club operates a production greenhouse and sells

a plethora of plant products. We specialize in native annual and perennial plant production, and these plants have been used in ecological installments all across Lexington. UK Horticulture Club is a nonprofit organization, and the profits from sales are used to fund the club’s operation and educational opportunities for students. The hands-on experience provided to students through work days, educational events, study trips, and more is invaluable to the education of the next generation of horticulturalists. If you are a University of Kentucky student and wish to be a part of the Horticulture Club, contact us on this page or come to our weekly meetings - Wednesdays at 5 pm in Greenhouse 12.

If you told us we had only two words to describe our trip to Costa Rica I think we'd all say: Pura Vida!! This trip allowed us to experience agriculture, horticulture, and more ecological discussions outside of the classroom and our club! We bonded over cards, a birthday, and a love for all plants and organisms (we love nature🦎🌱!!) big 📷and small 🔍 We toured farms that had different sustainable techniques such as Finca Luna Nueva, Arenal Vida Campesina Organic Farm, Finca Las Hormigas, and the Bribri Indigenous Tour of Plants! 🌿🌾🌱

Beyond broadening our horizons academically and scientifically, we also enjoyed more tourist-y sites of Costa Rica such as the Paradise Hot Springs, Arenal Hanging Bridges, Orchid gardens, El Trapiche Coffee tour, and so so much more! We also toured places such as La Selva Biological Station and the Curi-Cancha Reserve 🦎🐸🐒. And of course, no trip that includes a coastal city like Puerto Viejo is complete without a day at the beach 🏖🌊

Thank you to our advisors for making this trip as smooth as possible, and thank you everyone for supporting our club ❤️! Our fundraisers help our members experience trips and educational opportunities like this one, conference trips, and more! A huge priority of our club is making sure our members are able to go out into the world and experience different opportunities, expand their curiousity, and more 🥰 Stay tuned to see what our members are up to this summer and how we use our summer to the fullest 😎☀️🌳
