Effortless entertaining is on deck! 🩀 There’s something special about a warm appetizer fresh from the oven, especially when all you had to do was toss it in. Like our homemade crab dip! It's rich and creamy, with generous pieces of lump crab folded into velvety cream cheese and cheddar. Shallots add a delicate savory sweetness, while Old Bay and a touch of cayenne bring just the right amount of warmth. A little lemon brightens every bite, making this a dip that’s indulgent without feeling too heavy.

We prepare our crab dip right here in our kitchen and freeze it, so it’s ready for you to take home and bake whenever the occasion calls. Pair it with a sturdy cracker or baguette slices for an elegant appetizer with almost no prep. Homemade in our kitchen. Easy in yours. Keep one in the freezer for a last-minute gathering, an impromptu glass of wine, or anytime you want to serve something special without spending hours in the kitchen.

It might not be “chic” to wear white after Labor Day, but drinking white wine never goes out of style. đŸ€đŸ·

However, as the weather cools, we may want a little more from our whites than a crisp, refreshing summer sipper. Enter the fall whites.

🍐 Tenuta Maccan Pinot Grigio: Subtle maceration and lees aging give this Pinot Grigio added texture and structure, with crisp white-fleshed fruit underneath.
🍯 Marc BrĂ©dif Vouvray: Chenin Blanc brings orchard fruit, subtle honeyed notes, and a lovely balance of richness and acidity.
đŸȘš Pierre Martin Les Culs de Beaujeu Sancerre: Minerality, citrus, and a savory edge give this Sauvignon Blanc the complexity and depth to pair beautifully with cooler-weather dishes.

And don't overlook Riesling and Chardonnay. Both can bring plenty of texture, depth, and versatility to the table as the seasons change. So go ahead
wear white after Labor Day. And definitely keep drinking it.

Sip, savor, and celebrate American workers. đŸ„‚ Here’s to the farmers, cheesemakers, and winemakers who bring some of our favorite things to the table. And to the local folks who deliver these favorites to our door, stock the shelves, and help keep our community moving.

Today, we’re raising a glass to all of them and to the simple pleasures their hard work makes possible. Good wine. Great cheese. A table surrounded by people you love.
Here’s to the people who make it all possible. Happy Labor Day!

How did one of Oregon’s premier Pinot Noir producers become its largest Sauvignon Blanc producer? You may remember Patricia Green Cellars’ Notorious Pinot Noir from this week’s newsletter. But Pinot is only part of the story at this Willamette Valley producer. Now, let’s talk Sauvignon Blanc.

Finding vineyard sites in the Willamette Valley with any significant acreage dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc is difficult. As recently as five vintages ago, the 2+ acres planted at Patricia Green’s Estate Vineyard represented one of three of the largest Sauvignon Blanc plantings in the valley. Today, Patricia Green has sought out those rare sites and brought them together to create a Sauvignon Blanc that is recognizable, but distinctly its own.

The result is bright and high-toned, packed with flavor and beautifully textured. There’s plenty of acidity, but enough richness and texture to make it feel round, balanced, and graceful.

And then there are the labels. đŸ€© The artwork on the front of each bottle brings the wine’s character to life, reflecting the characteristics of the varietal. From the soil the vines grow in, vine age and microclimate, to yeast selection and fermentation vessels, every decision is made with the same goal: creating a wine that expresses where it comes from while maximizing freshness, brightness, and flavor.

The Willamette Valley Sauvignon Blanc is a traditional expression, but it’s anything but ordinary. And we’ll be pouring it at September’s Flights + Bites. We can’t wait to share a different side of Patricia Green with you.

Whether you’re flipping burgers on the grill or searing salmon, there’s a grilling wine for that. đŸ”„ We're here to help you stock up on the right bottles for all your Labor Day weekend gatherings. We’re reaching for two Californian favorites:

đŸ· Eschol Red Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot lead this Napa Valley blend, rounded out with Malbec, Petit Verdot, and a touch of Cabernet Franc. Rich, structured, and full of ripe fruit, it’s made for juicy burgers hot off the grill.

🌾 Terratorium Wines RosĂ© of Grenache
Bright, refreshing, and surprisingly versatile, this is the bottle to reach for when vegetable skewers, grilled seafood, or a smoked pork sandwich are on the menu. Light enough for seafood, but with enough character to stand up to smoky flavors.

Whatever you’re throwing on the grill this weekend, we’ve got a bottle to match. Stop in and let us help you find your perfect grilling wine.

Are you gearing up for Labor Day weekend gatherings? Don’t forget the torta! CrEATions by Melody’s Sun-Dried Tomato & Pesto Torta is a local favorite, with decadent layers of goat cheese and cream cheese, vibrant pesto, and sweet-tangy sun-dried tomatoes. It’s the kind of appetizer that always seems to disappear first.

And if you’re feeling adventurous, Melody makes two other favorites: Bourbon-Soaked Pecan & Fig and Coconut Curry. Pick up a wedge for the weekend and be the hero of the party.

As summer gives way to fall, we’re introducing the Scarpetti Flatbread and if you’re looking for an easy comfort food, this one is calling your name.

Scarpetta is Italian for “little shoe,” and in Italian dining, fare la scarpetta means using a piece of bread to soak up every last bit of delicious sauce left on your plate. Chef Serenity’s Bolognese is a classic staple here at Piazza Discepoli and the star of this new flatbread. She starts with everything you’d expect from a traditional Bolognese—ground beef, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, tomatoes, and red wine—then adds a little Piazza flair with diced Prosciutto. We top it with Pecorino Romano for a simple, delicious, decidedly gourmet meal.

And if you haven’t tried Chef Serenity’s Bolognese yet, you now have two ways to enjoy it. Bring home a pint (we suggest pairing it with a Blue Oven baguette or Italian hubcap and make your own scarpetta), or let us do the work with the new Scarpetti Flatbread. Either way, you’ll want something to soak up every last bite. đŸđŸ„–

Just pop them in the oven for 6–8 minutes, and you’ve got a golden, irresistible bite ready for guests. They’re delicious straight from the oven and just as good served at room temperature, making them an especially easy choice for cocktail parties, wine nights, holiday gatherings, or those last-minute “Oh, we’re having people over” moments.

Mythbuster time: Riesling is NOT always sweet! In fact, some of the most sought-after Rieslings in the world are bone-dry. Somewhere along the line, Riesling got a reputation for being cloying and sugary, but it’s actually one of the most versatile, acid-driven, and food-friendly grapes on earth.

Let us help you decode the bottle:
Dry/Trocken: Crisp, mineral-driven, and completely sugar-free. "Dry" is the exact opposite of sweet, offering razor-sharp acidity with notes of bright lime, green apple, and crushed stone.

Off-Dry/Halbtrocken/Feinherb: Features just a subtle touch of sweetness—enough to round out the natural acidity and give the wine a lush, vibrant finish without feeling heavy.

Ready to retrain your palate? Join us at our upcoming German & Austrian Riesling Dinner, where we’ll be pouring incredible dry and off-dry bottles all evening! Details and tickets can be found on the pinned event page on our profile or at piazzadiscepoli.com/events.
