I need to say this up front: I am not a veterinarian. I know—you’ve got questions about medications, treatments, and “what works” on the farm. And while I love sharing experiences, stories, and a little farm wisdom, I’m not here to tell you how to treat your animals. That’s a conversation between you, your herd, and a licensed veterinarian.
Here’s the deal: medications are prescription for a reason. Every animal is different. Every situation is different. What might work in one herd—or even one animal—could be dangerous or deadly in another. That’s why I don’t mention medication names. I’m not your pharmacist, and your animals’ health shouldn’t be left to chance based on what someone posts online. (Also, I don’t need your vet sending me side-eye messages—let’s keep the peace.) 😅
A good vet-client relationship isn’t just “nice to have”—it’s essential. Your vet knows your animals, your farm, and your goals. They help you make smart, safe decisions, prevent costly mistakes, and keep your herd healthy. They’re not just for emergencies—they’re your partner in long-term success.
So yes, ask questions. Learn from others. Share experiences. But when it comes to treatments and medications, leave it to the professionals.
At the end of the day, I want your animals safe, your farm thriving, and your stress levels slightly lower than mine on a Monday morning. And the best way to do that? Keep your vet close, trust their guidance, and always remember: medications are prescription for a reason. Your animals’ lives depend on it. And if anyone tells you otherwise? Just smile, shake your head, and feed the cows—they’ll never judge you. 🐄💛
