Welcome to September aka end-of-summer garden anarchy.

The weeds have won, the tomatoes are doing their own thing, and the garden looks completely unhinged. But between the bumblebees bumbling into nasturtiums and the monarch and swallowtail butterflies taking over the zinnias, no one seems to care about curb appeal.

Messy gardens feed the pollinators best, right? That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

We had a good morning to host a Farmer Roundtable with Rep. Mike Carey.

Appreciate him taking the time to sit down with local farmers and listen to what we’re facing in agriculture. We covered a lot of important issues that hit close to home, including USMCA trade, the SAVE Act, and farm labor and immigration concerns.

Having folks in Washington take time to talk with real people and get our side of things is exactly why we put our time and money into agriculture advocacy groups like the OCWGA. It gives family farms like ours a real voice where it counts.

What an honor! 🌾 Such a proud day at the Ohio State Fair celebrating our roots! We were thrilled to be highlighted by Farm Credit Mid-America to represent Fairfield County in the brand-new Buckeye State AgQuest display!

The kids loved seeing Rittinger Farms up on the big interactive screen inside the amazing new imAGine Ag exhibit. A huge thank you to the Ohio Farm Bureau, Nationwide and all the incredible agricultural partners who made this spectacular new building come to life to help share the story of Ohio agriculture!

We topped off a fantastic visit with a delicious lunch at the Taste of Ohio Food Court. Be sure to check out the new Ohio Agriculture Center and find your county display if you’re heading to the fair! 🎡🌽

Well, look what we found munching on the milkweed today!

Most folks automatically think every caterpillar hanging out on milkweed is a monarch, but we had a little surprise in the patch. This spiky little guy is actually a Milkweed Tussock Moth caterpillar!

Even though they aren't monarchs, they are still super cool native insects that depend entirely on milkweed plants.
