Happened out to pasture today to this little one being born. Five years of birthing babies here at Lallygag Lane and this was the first one I got a little worried about. First time heifer with only one hoof out for longer than I liked.

All in all, I kept an eye on it along with a timer and things eventually picked up. Still on our record for zero assists! 🎉 Man, do I love these Dexter cattle!

Well we went and did a thing…

With Neil Eaton and Wendee McClellan Eaton moving down next month to help us grow Lallygag Lane, we knew we needed to up our pasture game and unlock greater potential of our land.

We invested in a TYM 5075PSC and got the implements to help us grub all the mesquite and mow regularly to work on getting the weeds under control.

Lots of work ahead but with patience and time I know well get these fields producing better for our growing herd.

Can't say thanks enough to Marsha at Isom Tractor for taking care of us and making this possible. Go see them in Tye, TX!

Latest dun baby on the ground! Looks like it arrived sometime yesterday and we just missed it until this morning when I was out counting noses.

Had to snap pictures of some of the new cuties as they were checking out the crazy lady spying on them. 🤪

Two more calves on the ground. That means we have 7 healthy unassisted babies this year. Looks like another heifer and a nice big bull calf today.

Wow! It’s twofer Tuesday here at Lallygag Lane. Looks like two new little heifers too.

Red little girl compliments of another first-time heifer. Been watching her like a hawk since she's one of our 2024 ladies.

Black heifer comes out of one of my most protective mommas. Gonna be a minute before I can get close enough to tag and check her out. 🤣

We finally have our first dun… and it's a girl!!! Woohoo!! 🎉

I am really enjoying the new genetics we’re seeing emerge in the herd with Dun Dandy as this years sire.

Our second calf of the season has arrived on the scene. Another first time heifer rocking her new role as a doting and present momma.

Pretty sure this one is a little bull calf and he is black as ink. Our black calves have always arrive as more of a deep chocolate brown and turned black as they get older. Genetics is always an interesting thing.

Both new mommas are out of out main herd sire Sean and this little guy it out of our newer bull Dun Dandy.

Can't wait to see how this crop in particular develops.

Planning to come see us at the market this weekend? Yea and do take note that, because of the expected weather, we’ll be hanging out in the Crazy Water Hotel instead of our regular location on 2nd Street.

Our first ray of sunshine for 2026 has burst onto the scene with our brand-new heifer! This adorable girl, whose mom is a young rockstar from our 2024 calf crop, is basically the future of our herd's Netflix series. 🤣 Mom is doing an amazing job showcasing her parenting skills, and we're thrilled to see our herd grow!
