Mud Creek Ranch Customers,
I’ve been dreading this post for quite some time. I’m sure many of you have noticed my lack of posting on here as well as my extremely slow responses (or non-existent). During Covid I had grown my retail business as well as selling more quarters and halves. In 2020 we sold over 90 animals in under 6 months. Things were extremely busy with the farm, but our kids were not doing any extra curriculars and my time was being spent at work and all my free time was on the farm. As many of you know we had the birth of our son in August of 2020. Also, I changed careers and went into the residential and commercial construction industry about the same time. I juggled through 2021 as best as I could but world began to open up and our baby began to grow up. This year when I’m not out driving around helping customers with my career I am coaching my kids, watching my kids play sports, spending time with my family, farming, or raising my cattle. I’ve decide that I really enjoy all of those things and I do not have any more time for other things. This means I had to give up the beef portion of my life. I love raising cattle and I will never give that up. I just can’t try and be a ‘grocery store’ for my customers any longer. I know this may been a bummer for some of you that have been my loyal customers for a long time. Many of you these past few months I have been sending on to my family because they raise the same beef and they have much more time to help with communication. They don’t carry quite the amount of inventory that I used to, but they do carry all the same cuts.
I want to tell everybody that I am sorry for the lack of quality service the past 6 months or so. I’ve been really struggling with the finality of my decision. The fact is I always have tried to stay true to my foundation which is that my family comes before anything. The beef business ties up a lot of money when carrying the kind of volume we had. Also, it is impossible to keep everybody happy and for the very little profit that comes with the business it is no longer something I want to take time from my family. I want to stick with selling roofs during the day, coaching my kids and having family time at night and on the weekends. That along with raising my cow/calf herd and my hay business will keep me busier than I have time for. I started the year with 13 completely full freezers of beef and I have been trying to decrease that to 2-3. I still have 10 freezers full of various items. I would like to get some of it moved if anybody wants to place any bulk orders then I will cut you a heck of a price. 5 of those freezers alone are hamburger, plain patties, jalapeño pepper cheese patties, bacon patties, and bacon cheddar patties. Another freezer has quite a bit of skirt steak and briskets. I have a freezer of roasts (mainly arm, rump, and sirloin tip). I have 2 more freezers with random items. I don’t have any steak left and I lost a complete freezer than had a bunch of stuff. If you’re looking for something in particular just let me know.
I do still have about 17 hogs left going to the locker in June that I don’t want to cancel because they were booked a year and a half ago. If anybody has interest please reach out and I’ll try to get to your message as soon as I can.
For all of your beef needs I would highly suggest calling Melanie (My mother) at 217-379-7852 or messaging her on Facebook at Bauer Crops & Cattle. They will get you quality meat at an affordable price.
I just want to say again how very sorry I am. I have been dreading this moment because I feel I am letting everybody down, but it is just what is best for me and my family at this time. I understand many of you may leave this page since it no longer provides the service you need. I do still plan to upload cute photos of new calves and updates from our family farm on this page. Mud Creek Ranch isn’t just a business, it is our home and will never go anywhere! I really want to thank each and every person who has purchased meat from us. I am sorry to those of you that were not happy with our service or our retail offerings. I still highly encourage you to shop local as often as you can.
Thank you again for your continued support
