I have been over-booked lately making ends meet so havenā€™t been posting much content BUT I wanted to share a thought I had a few days ago.

I decided to hand write a letter to someone I care a lot about. Once it was out of my hands and into theirs, I started having a panic.

I didnā€™t have a copy and knew I wouldnā€™t remember every word I wrote. I couldnā€™t edit or adjust any of it. It felt weird to have content that I couldnā€™t alter or review later on. Every text or email or post I make is heavily reviewed and adjusted instead of letting the words flow uninhibited.

After a minute I thought, how sad that we live in a world where authenticity is punished. We have texts and messages and posts and comments that are largely able to be edited, deleted, or reviewed and ā€œclarifiedā€ down the road. Everyone is obsessed with having receipts of their interactions and not typically for altruistic reasons.

Handwritten letters are becoming a thing of the past and I feel sad about it after having this thought. Being able to constantly edit ourselves removes accountability and authenticity. We start caring more about what others think of us than what we actually want to put into the world.

I have made a decision to start handwriting letters and other things more often. I actually love writing and havenā€™t done much of it the last several years.

And I encourage you all to do the same. Sit down and hand write a letter and send it off to someone. It was a beautiful and yet uncomfortable feeling to do so and I am glad I had this realization.

Female Southern Black Widow šŸ•·ļø

While youā€™re here, hereā€™s some education:

1) only females can bite and inject venom, and even then they donā€™t always inject venom. Human deaths from black widow bites are VERY uncommon. Each year there are approximately 2200 bites and there hasnā€™t been a death associated with these bites since 1983.
2) black widows are non-aggressive unless protecting an egg sack or harrassed
3) bites most often happen when you grab something thatā€™s been undisturbed for some time and happen to also grab a spider
4) these spiders are reclusive. They choose dark, cool, undisturbed areas to nest.
5) Native southern black widow spiders have smooth round egg sacks. If you see a round ā€œspikyā€ egg sack, that belongs to an invasive brown widow spider. Both the brown widow spider and egg sacks should ALWAYS be destroyed.

I wish someone had been around to watch the relocation! I tried to get her into a paper to bring to the wood, what happened is she latched on with her web and was dangling and swinging around off the paper while I walked her to the woods.

If youā€™d like to blame anyone for my bravery around these little guys, you can blame my mother (Janae Spencer Foulger) who sent me to school with a jar containing a black widow for school show and tell.

Never have my goats been this shiny and healthy! A shiny healthy coat is an excellent indicator of a shiny healthy inside šŸ’•

Hereā€™s my go-to diet:
- FRM Grain (I alternate between their goat textured feed and their super goat pellet)
- FRM Alfalfa Pellets
- UltraCruz Livestock Selenium Supplement
- Free choice Sweetlix Meatmaker Minerals
- Free choice coastal hay
