This guy is my latest piece. He is at least 120 pounds so I will probably have to save a pair of these for a special event or festival.

Today I planted a small plot of blue spring wheat. If things go right there will be material for wheat weaving and some to incorporate into brooms. The day just seemed right for it

The RLE - Rio Linda Elverta Country Expo will happen on September 16. I will be selling brooms there. Maybe a few small concrete pieces if I can slip some in. This event looks like it is going to be fun. I think they said there 115 vendors and food trucks. A dance in the evening, a spaghetti dinner hosted by the girl scouts. A car show. No charge to get in and lots to see.

So excited to be Hosting the 2nd Annual Watermelon eating contest at the The Country Fair in town, it was a hit last year and I'm looking forward to all the crazy fun this year!! If you wanna sign up stop in the shop and I will have a sign up sheet !! It's gonna be a kick !! 🍉🍉🍉

I am so tickled - LightWeavers Metaphysical Boutique has invited me to bring brooms to their Psychic fair tomorrow. It is at their new location in Roseville. I will also carry some of my broom corn and sticks. If you have your heart set on a special broom color or if you see a stick that appeals to you I will make that broom especially for you. I will be there soon after 12 and plan to be there until 4 or 5.

The food truck Friday event had to cancel today due to uncertainty in weather. Easy to understand, especially if it rains on bandsmen's expensive musical instruments. So anyone who was contemplating coming by to pick up a broom, sorry to say no one will be there.

So what is the next best thing to do when you have a free afternoon, it is high humitidty, drizzly and mid-70's? The answer is not cook dinner - it is to get outside and get some concrete poured!

Sometimes being a vendor isn't always about the money - well maybe a little... Anyway there are community events from time to time that just turn out to be fun. So in Orangevale, on Greenback Lane, there is an event called "Food Truck Friday". It is a small event but it was quite enjoyable. The band played some great classic rock and roll and many of us older people were belting out the words to the songs and dancing. Nice thing about getting older, you don't really care about what other people think. There were some really good artisans there and the booth prices were set to make it attractive to vendors (like it was a bookbag donation). A water type bouncehouse - an axe throwing cage(?) that was done up as a viking ship (very cool), hand crafted wreaths, poster art, wood carving and engraving, georgeous sublimation art, crystals, minerals, oils just about everthing one might see with a few surprises. I hope to see more of these types of happy events - it seemed more of a community gathering. And must comment on the food trucks. I got cajun proper red beans and rice and Jambalaya! Perfect in the summer..

These are cobweb brooms. They can be used to sweep the cobwebs and are skinny enough to get to hard to reach spaces. They are left wispy with the bristles to catch finer particles. This type of broom will be sold at the Rio Linda Elverta Country Faire in September 2023. Also look for this type of broom at Lightweavers in Citrus Heights
