The 2nd Annual Larry Spangberg Memorial Rib Cook Off is coming to Deer Lodge on Saturday, October 10. Along with wet and dry spare rib contests, there’s a new steak competition this year—and a wing contest, too.

What are the chances a clearance brisket turns into a 5th-place call? 🏆🥩

Before the Montana Pitmaster Classic, I searched Costco for a competition-worthy brisket and finally found a good one. Then I stopped at Super 1 for chicken—and spotted a Snake River Farms Wagyu brisket flat on clearance.

Of course, I had to grab it. That lucky find helped Mountain Smoke BBQ take 5th place in brisket!

Now this beauty is trimmed, seasoned and ready for tomorrow. One last brisket for Steve, and then I may put the smoker to bed for the Montana winter.

It was a short but successful BBQ season, and I’m already looking forward to next year. 🔥
