As part of our 20th Anniversary, we’re continuing to celebrate some of the special horses God has blessed Rising Hope Farms with over the years — both past and present. Each one has played a unique part in our ministry and in the lives of the riders, families, and volunteers who have known them. ❤️🐴

Horse Partner Focus: Zion

Meet Zion, our gentle giant and one of the favorites among riders and volunteers!

Zion was born in 2012 and is a beautiful blue roan Quarter Horse. Before finding his home at Rising Hope Farms, Zion lived on a ranch in Oklahoma, where he spent his days as a hardworking cattle horse. Today, his job looks a little different — but it is every bit as important.

Known for his gentle nature and lovable disposition, Zion has a way of making people feel comfortable around him. His size may make him one of the more imposing members of our herd, but those who know him quickly discover why we call him our gentle giant. He has become a trusted partner to many of our riders and a favorite among the volunteers who work with him.

Zion’s name means “holy place.” Throughout the Bible, Zion is used in reference to Jerusalem, Israel, and the City of David, and it carries a beautiful reminder of God’s kingdom and His promises.

We like to think Zion carries each of his riders with the same quiet strength and faithfulness that has made him such a special part of the Rising Hope Farms family.

From working cattle on an Oklahoma ranch to carrying some very special riders in North Carolina, Zion has found his calling. ❤️

We’ll continue introducing you to more of the wonderful horses who have helped make Rising Hope Farms what it is today — 20 years of Faith, Hope and Healing. 🐴❤️

As part of our 20th Anniversary, we’re taking time to celebrate some of the special horses God has blessed Rising Hope Farms with over the years — both past and present. Each one has played a unique part in our ministry and in the lives of the riders, families, and volunteers who have known them.

We’re starting with the youngest member of our herd — Promise! 🐴❤️

Horse Partner Focus: Promise

Promise is 6 years old and is a Morgan/Quarter Horse mix. His beautiful coloring is sometimes described as “blood red” — a deep, rich red-brown coat accented by black points on his mane, tail, and lower legs. A thick white blaze makes his face easy to recognize.

Promise loves attention and enjoys playing with the other horses in the pasture. As the youngest member of the Rising Hope Farms herd, he brings plenty of personality and energy to the farm.

His name, Promise, comes from Psalm 145:13:

“Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.”
— Psalm 145:13

✨ LIGHT UP THE FARM 2026 ✨

What exactly is Light Up the Farm?

It’s Rising Hope Farms’ biggest fundraiser of the year—but it’s about much more than raising money. It’s about making sure the children and adults we serve can continue experiencing Faith, Hope and Healing through horses at absolutely no cost to their families. ❤️🐴

One of the things that makes Light Up the Farm so special is that our rider families help lead the campaign as a way of giving back and helping make the same opportunities possible for future riders.

This year, our goal is $20,000, and every gift helps support our horses, therapeutic riding lessons, veterinary and farrier care, adaptive equipment, farm maintenance, and community outreach programs. (⁠Rising Hope Farms)

Where has the summer gone? ☀️🐴 Time really does fly when you’re having fun, and we’ve shared a lot of wonderful rides this summer!

With many of our riders heading back to school, it’s almost time to begin our fall riding schedule.

🍂 Mondays and Tuesdays will remain the same, but Wednesdays and Thursdays will move to afternoon riding times.

That also means we have a new opportunity for volunteers! If mornings haven’t worked with your schedule, we’d love for you to consider joining us for one of our Wednesday or Thursday afternoon sessions. Our riders and horses depend on an amazing team of volunteers each week.

And be sure to save the date for Light Up the Farm — October 3! 🎃✨

We’re especially excited to welcome back our current and former riders, families, and volunteers for an evening of celebration as we mark 20 years of Faith, Hope and Healing at Rising Hope Farms.

Did you know that most horses love watermelon? There are lots of different fruits and vegetables that horses eat besides hay and grass. We make sure all of our horses get plenty of treats for working so hard all week!
