It’s been a minute but we made it through fair and the crazy couple weeks after. Hunter took a blue ribbon with his chickens and reserve champion with his eggs. We got the chickens processed over the weekend and he is ready to sell, averaging 7.25 pounds whole a few over 9 lbs! Whole birds are $25 each and we still have individual cuts available, reach out for cut pricing. Help support this kid and the hard work he puts into his projects!

Hey folks, we have been pretty quiet this summer so far, it has been hectic to say the least! I wanted to let everyone know the past two years producing chickens, we have been working towards building a customer base to pass to our boys for their 4H ventures. With that our oldest has been getting ready for his first county fair exhibiting beef cattle and broiler chickens. Products sold from this point will be used to fund future 4H projects. The younger two are more than excited to have projects of their own in the coming years!

Our first batch of birds for the summer our oldest will be showing at the Cedar County Fair next week and they will be ready for the freezer toward the end of the month!

We still have whole and pieces available from last fall’s batch of birds if anyone is interested feel free to reach out, we plan to let these go for a discount to make room in the freezer.

Wingless and feeling down after the big game this weekend? Cheer up, because you're an adult and can have wings at anytime! We're still stocked up on pasture-raised chickens, whole or in individual cuts - and yes, that includes party wings, if you can beat us to them! Unfortunately a sad Patty update today. Patty left us this week to go to God’s greenest grasses. Fortunately, it wasn’t due to predation, she could outrun the fox but not her appetite (heart attacks are common for meat chicken).

So, good news and bad news. Bad news is we will not be selling state inspected chicken product. The product on the right we paid extra for processing it is inspected and legal for retail sale. The product on the left is home processed, packaged and sealed. Only one side will last up to a year in the freezer… so that gets to the good news although we won’t have that fancy state inspected label we will no longer be incurring that additional cost so prices will not be increasing for any of our chicken products (assuming our inputs purchase of chicks and feed to raise them don’t drastically change). If anyone has questions about our home processing practices, we would be more than happy to share them in detail!

Any interest out there for chicken pieces (boneless breasts, thighs, drums, party wings)? I can work on pricing if the interest is out there. We just have one hiccup… technically by law to do this it would need to be USDA inspected, driving up cost. There may be avenues around this though to keep cost down if you’re willing.
