Hase here, happy Sunday. It rained about an inch and a half here this past week (3 rain events ~1/2” each, need about 2 of those a week every week).

We’re now grazing ground we left 60 days ago that has rested and recovered and is already throwing more Bahia grass and more little bluestem that we didn’t see on our first rotation(those are native grasses were trying to promote through our grazing habits).

We had a bit of a cattle drive today, no horses but the borrowed side-by-side worked just as good. We walked the boys from one end of the property to the other since we are skipping some ground we want to grow up a bit more before we graze it.

Hope y’all had an easy Sunday talking to folks you like, drinking cool to cold beers and eating at least two good meals. Y’all take care, Hase

Charleston friends! Go pickup a copy of the Charleston Mercury and check us out on the front page.

Special thanks to our friend James DeLo for stopping by, taking the time to learn about our farm, and write a bit about our story.

Our website is now live and we’re hoping to have our beef pre-order up soon. We’re working hard to get our beef on your table but we will cut no corners to make it happen. We hope you will sign up for our email list to be alerted when our pre-orders open.

Cattle should have free access to grass, legumes, forbes and things that grow from the ground. Period. Full stop.

Did you know that it’s currently legal and common for feedlots to mix in cardboard and chicken litter into cattle feed?

Did you know between 75%-80% of all beef we eat goes through a feedlot?

I don’t know about y’all but I don’t like eating turds. I don’t like eating things that eat turds. I haven’t asked them, but I doubt cattle enjoy the taste of turds too. I’d rather see beef cattle out foraging and grazing on pasture and expressing their natural instincts.

Now, we could talk for hours about this stuff, and maybe that’s what we will do with the website. But I’ll leave you with this:

Do you know where your beef comes from? Do you know your farmer? Do you eat turds?

Today’s show and tell: Hase wanted to show you a big ole purple top turnip he found back in early April. He planted these in a cool season seed mix in the fall of 2025 to help break up soil compaction, increase water infiltration and as a high protein treat for our 4 legged employees. Please tell Hase you like his turnip.

Dragon flys and cattle egrets; welcome sights of an early morning move.

We’ve also been seeing more and more purple martins and barn swallows these days as we’ve been hanging bird houses up on poles around the farm

You may hear us call our cattle “Our Boys,” and that’s because we are currently running only South Poll Steers.

Steers, being castrated bulls, allow us to focus on better developing our land and grazing, as well as growing out the best beef possible without worrying about also developing our breeding program (yet).

Swipe to learn a bit more about the breed.
