In the beginning, local Clarion citizens and a Clarion Alumni joined together to organize an annual Clarion BBQ Festival

presenting the grilling talents of Professional Pit Masters, Local Favorite Restaurants, and Backyard Barbecue-ers

Purpose
It was initially a fun and fundraising event to support the Clarion Hospital Cancer Center and the Clarion University Tippin Scholarship fund. Vision
The vision is to create a summer travel event that will draw locals, university students, parents and visitors to the Clarion Area to come enjoy the best in BBQ delights and local beverages along with local performers amidst an atmosphere of fun and live entertainment featuring local talents and regional favorites. The Clarion BBQ Festival has now become one of the major events chaired by the Clarion Chamber of Business and Inductry under the direction of Executive Director Tracy J. Location
Location for the Annual Clarion BBQ Festival is Clarion Mall off I-80, Exit 62 Rte 68, Main Parking Lot

The Clarion BBQ Festival will become a Chamber Event and here is the first official message from Tracy Becker.

The Clarion BBQ Festival is taking place on August 5, 6 & 7, 2022 at the Clarion Mall.

We are currently putting the team together to put this event on. If you have an interest, please email Tracy Becker ([email protected]).

Looking forward to bringing this event back to Clarion!!!!!

Our Story

Clarion BBQ Festival FACT SHEET Updated 4/26/19 Introduction Local Clarion citizens and a Clarion Alumni have joined together to organize an annual Clarion BBQ Festival presenting the grilling talents of Professional Pit Masters, Local Favorite Restaurants, and Backyard Barbecue-ers Purpose Raise funds to support the Clarion Hospital Cancer Center and the Clarion University Tippin Scholarship fund. Beneficiaries Clarion Hospital Cancer Center has been one of the major Community fundraising projects for Clarion University Student-Athletes for many years; and this partnership event is designed to help both Charitable Endowments continue their respective missions. Vision Our vision is to create a Spring Time travel event that will draw locals, university students, parents and visitors to the Clarion Area to come enjoy the best in BBQ delights and local beverages along with local performers amidst an atmosphere of fun and live entertainment featuring local talents and regional favorites. Committee: Organizing the new event is a committee consisting of local business men and women and members of Clarion University & Alumni from uptown, downtown and the region. The members are Tracy Becker, Bo Lockwood, Ray Lichauer, Joyce Garritano, John Stroup, Kelly Stroup, Brian and Rebecca Ishman, and from the University, James Geiger, Scott Courtney, and Clarion Alums, Bo Garritano. We also work in partnership with Brian Fox, Fox Portable Sawmill and his Chainsaw Woodcarvers Exhibion and Auctions. Our 1st Clarion BBQ Festival was held in late april starting in 2016, however the April showers have led us to move to the more stabvle month of May. We now hold our Clarion BBQ Festival in the weekend between Mother’s Day and Memorial Day - a perfect time to get ready for the start of summer Barbecue Season.
