The mission of our farmers market is to connect farmers and artisans with community members in a way that promotes the health of citizens, the local economy, and the environment. We believe the connection between a sustainable agriculture system and the health of local and global com
munities is becoming increasingly clear. A marketplace for providing locally and sustainably grown food is one pathway to achieving these goals; reduced dependence on fossil fuels and toxic chemicals, which lessens the ill effects to human health and the environment; nutritious, affordable food for the community; a thriving local economy; support for local farmers. The Market furthers these goals by including local artisans, craftspeople, and producers of prepared food, musicians, chefs, and educators. To accelerate the transition to local, sustainable agriculture and economy also requires education. We promote networks between local government, schools, community groups, not-for profit organizations, and citizens, which educate and provide a means for sustainable living.
