A challenging part about raising animals on the farm is that once in a while, you get a new baby that is not thriving. This 11 day old chick started to struggle two days ago. Her mom cannot keep her warm all day because she has two other chicks to take around and teach, so this little baby was being left behind and was struggling to keep up. When you sit with your animals and just watch them, you will learn to recognize when things are off.

The last two days I have been wearing her against my chest and even took her to my sewing class at the library!! She seems to have something respiratory, maybe pneumonia, and I’m guessing it’s from all the cooler weather, rain and dampness. When I try to put her down under the heat lamp, she runs back to me to hold her. So not sure if she’s going to make it, but I’m going to treat her and keep her as comfortable as possible and hope for the best. We’re using vetRX and rooster booster 🙏

We’ve named her Hope❤️

The most beautiful variety yet!! We just love our birds. And to think, it all started with 4 little chicks a few years ago.

Some of these eggs are small but we do sell them discounted when we have them available!😍

These are from Rhode Island reds (Deep red), leghorns (white), cream crested leg bars (blue), rustic rock (brown) and Easter eggers (blue, green, pink, brown).

Matilda rejoined her flock and is doing great! We don’t want to keep her separated too long because then her flock may reject her❤️‍🩹
