Reamer Farms

Reamer Farms Reamer Farms is a family-owned vineyard in Clarksburg, California.

In 1978, we planted our first vineyard and have since grown to farm nearly 1500 acres of Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and Riesling wine grapes.

Earlier this summer, a century-old culvert under Babel Slough Road collapsed. This culvert moves water from the Sacramento River to Lake Wi******er and into Babel Slough β€” a key water source for farms and wildlife.

When it failed, slough levels dropped, creating urgent challenges for local farmers. Reclamation District 999 quickly installed an emergency pump to keep water flowing β€” then got to work on a full repair.

Fixing it meant shutting down the road and digging deep β€” so deep you could paddle from Lake Wi******er to Babel Slough (and yes, some of us did πŸ˜„).

The new culvert is in place, and crews are restoring the levee and road.

Huge thanks to Tom Slater and RD999 for acting fast to support our ag community!

We raise a small herd of cattle on our family farm - not for profit, but because it matters to us how food is raised and how the land is treated in the process.

This video offers a glimpse into what that looks like: early mornings, pasture rotations, watching calves take their first steps, and the daily rhythms that connect us to the animals and the land.

It’s a labor of love rooted in stewardship, sustainability, and the belief that if you’re going to eat meat, you should understand the care behind it.

🌿 Removing leaves in the fruit zone is essential for producing top-quality fruit. At Reamer Farms, we begin this process right after fruit set. With four mechanical leaf removers and two shifts daily, we can move slowly enough through each row for meticulous leaf removal while efficiently covering all our vineyards at the right time in the season. πŸ‡

Reamer Farms is proud to announce that we are now producing solar power on 5 of our ranches. These arrays will provide electricity for 10 irrigation pumps, 7 buildings, and 3 EV chargers (plus they offer shelter to some of our equipment!).

Reamer Farms is committed to sustainability. This commitment includes supporting research, experimenting with new practices, and investing in solutions that will benefit our vines, the land, our employees, and the larger communities we impact.

Weeds: they steal our water and nutrients (and sunlight if they grow tall enough!), are a nuisance to fieldworkers, interfere with the maintenance and harvesting of our grapes, and can harbor other vineyard pests. They are hearty and determined. If we wait too long to deal with them, they will produce the seeds we will battle for years to come. At Reamer Farms, we are trying to reduce our use of herbicides. In fact, this year, we committed two vineyards to a 100% herbicide-free program. This video shows one of the alternatives we are exploring: mechanical w**d control.

August is here which means harvest is upon us. While the vines are running a couple weeks behind their normal schedule, we took two familiar faces out of storage in preparation for this final step of the grape-growing process, and this always stirs up the same emotions: nostalgia, pride, and anticipation. Harvest may be annual, but it will never grow old.

We hosted our Annual Harvest Party last Saturday: 125 people in 104-degree heat! Our tradition is for the Reamer Family to serve our employees - and their families - in appreciation for all the hard work that they have put into this season. We enjoyed ribs, cake and ice cream, music, water slides, soccer, family photos, and pinatas. We did our best to stay cool and even raised a glass to harvesting the fruits of our labor in the weeks ahead.

What a great way to kick off the 2021 season as we hopefully turn the page on the challenges of the last year! Yesterday, Yolo County partnered with UC Davis Health to host a drive-through vaccination clinic at our home ranch. Over 300 agricultural workers were vaccinated. Thank you to our family and friends who helped keep the line moving, the county volunteers who handled check-in like certified pros, and all the medical professionals who delivered the injections. Special thanks to the people at Yolo County and UC Davis Health who made this on-site clinic a reality. Yesterday's clinic likely saved lives, prevented hospitalizations, and helped to slow the spread of COVID. It was a team effort for sure, and it was our privilege to play a small role.
