🍁 Join us for a special fall gathering featuring Madeira Park’s Chef de Cuisine, Ollie Honderd! We’ll kick things off with Farmer Cody of Fresh Harvest harvesting seasonal vegetables before handing things over to Chef Ollie, who’ll show us how he makes Madeira Park’s fan-favorite seasonal gnocchi!

Everything I got in my farmers market delivery this week 💚

We aren’t planning to cook much this week because it’s fall break so I focused on getting lots of fruit and easy to eat veg.

All the produce is organic and almost all is locally grown right here in Georgia!

Our team had a blast taking an offsite to Opo Coffee in Decatur last month! We got to visit the shop, see their in-house roasting process, and experience an authentic cupping led by owner and operator Jonathan Pascual.

4 super cool things we learned:
☕️ Opo is a Certified Living Wage Employer.
☕️ They’re the only coffee training center in Georgia that partners with the Specialty Coffee Association to administer professional certificate courses for folks working in specialty coffee!
☕️ ‘Opo’ means ‘yes’ with respect in Filipino.
☕️ The Specialty Coffee Association’s Coffee Taster’s Flavor Wheel features 110 specific flavor and aroma descriptors!

Wowza. These bad boys are Cockscomb (Celosia) and have an otherworldly, rippled, almost brain-like 🧠 or coral🪸 texture. They love the heat making them a great flower to grow outdoors in the GA heat! 🥵

Better Work, Fueled by Fresh Harvest! 🫑

A lesser known facet of our work is bringing farm-fresh food & hands-on wellness experiences to workplaces across ATL! Tyler and Andrew on our team lead our Workplace Wellness program, offering Pop-Up Farmers Markets, Lunch & Learns, Tabling Events, and more.

Last month, we got to host a Pop-Up Farmers Market for the great employees at Fulton County (Fulton County Government), where folks could select seasonal, fresh produce like peaches, jalapeños, Vidalia onions, and Italian sweet peppers to take home with them!

What’s a cover crop? 🤨 And why are they so important for organic farmers like Nicolas and Jeni of Crystal Organic Farm?

Cover crops are plants grown between growing seasons to protect, replenish, and nourish the soil. They’re especially important for organic farmers because they naturally suppress pesky weeds, without relying on harmful pesticides! 🌱🚫🧪

At the end of the day, farmers are business owners, so they’re always looking out for the health of their most valuable asset: their soil!
