Hey y’all! 🐰

Today, Baymax’s breeder sent me this picture of him back when he was a junior buck, and I thought I’d share it with y’all!

Just look at that HUGE noggin! 😂 It reminds me so much of Vesper. The more I look at Baymax, the more I think he came to Dirty Harey Homestead at just the right time!

Sometimes things just seem to work out the way they’re supposed to, and I’m excited to see what he brings to our Silver Fox program! 🐰❤️

What do y’all think? Does anybody else see the resemblance to Vesper?

Hey y’all! 👋🐰

Here’s a little time-lapse of one particular kit from our Anya x Baymax 3 week old litter! This little guy is easy to keep track of because he’s the ONLY blue in the litter. 💙

I’ve been weighing the kits and trying to understand some of the differences in their daily weight gains, but this one has me scratching my head! 🤔

Yesterday he weighed 12.40 oz, and today he weighed 15.80 oz! That’s a 3.40 oz difference in just 24 hours! 😳

I weighed him multiple times yesterday and again today to make sure I wasn’t getting a bad reading.

Maybe he had just eaten, maybe I’m missing something, or maybe this little dude is just growing like a w**d! 🌱🐰

What do y’all think? Have you ever seen a kit gain that much in a day? I’m curious to hear what other breeders have experienced!

That’s one of the things I love about raising rabbits — there’s always something new to learn! 📈🐇

🐰♻️ HEY Y’ALL! LET’S TALK FEED BAGS! ♻️🐰

If you raise livestock, you know how FAST those feed bags pile up! 😂 Between rabbit pellets,for us and everything else, we go through our fair share here at Dirty Harey Homestead!

We try to reuse, recycle, and repurpose whatever we can around the homestead. Since most of our feed bags are plastic, we’re always looking for ways to give them a second life instead of just tossing them in the trash!

💡 Here’s one of our favorite uses!

We save our plastic feed bags and use BINDER CLIPS to attach them to our rabbit cages! 🐇

🔧 For wooden areas, we use binder clips with a washer and an exterior screw. For cage wire, we use smaller binder clips that attach right to the wire.

🌧️ This gives us an easy way to block wind and rain during storms and helps when we’re winterizing the rabbitry! We leave enough of a gap so our buns can’t reach the plastic and chew on it. It’s a simple, inexpensive way to repurpose something we already have on hand!

We’re all about finding ways to save a little money and make use of what we’ve got around here. Sometimes the best homestead hacks are the simplest ones.
