Blackey is our Employee of the Month! Blackey has been with us for 5 years and is the Team Leader of our Integrated Pest Management program. We thought we'd get a few words from her about her job here at Terre à Terre Farm.

🧍🏼‍♀️What is your favorite thing to do when you aren't patrolling for bugs in the fields?
🐔 I like to chase cats. It's really fun watching them run.

🧍🏼‍♀️What is your favorite food?
🐔 Cracked corn is tasty, but NOTHING compares to the really expensive dog food. That would be my favorite.

🧍🏼‍♀️Which flower do you like the best on the farm?
🐔 I love Lilies because they plant them in crates. The dirt is always warm and moist and feels really good between my toes when I'm scratching around doing my job, but they started putting some kind of wire thing on top so I can't get in them. Bummer.

🧍🏼‍♀️What is your favorite Season?
🐔 I like Autumn because there are so many juicy grasshoppers and a lot of good places to hide in the foliage to jump out and attack cats 😆

It's not new information, but it is very easily ignored information. The studies are there. The science shows the proof. No longer can we hide behind ignorance of the issues.

Society is changing. The younger generations have opened their arms to sustainability.

Around 61% of consumers say they would willingly support a sustainable floral business over a conventional one.

We care about the people in this industry and believe everyone has the right to a happy and healthy career!

I am always available to reach out to on information about Sustainable Floristry Network and believe the more education I can pass along the better!

I have been harvesting Little Lime Hydrangea early this morning. School is back in session, mornings are a little more quiet and I feel myself getting back into the swing of the farm.

Taking the Summer off COMPLETELY from growing was a new concept for me, but I feel refreshed and enthusiastic about Autumn harvests instead of completely burned out as in years past.

For some reason we have been programmed to prioritize profit over exhaustion, but for me it's not a sustainable lifestyle. Summer breaks with my two beautiful girls while they are still young is a priority. Living while I'm alive is a priority. Having amazing Autumn, Winter and Spring harvests of Woody Ornamentals is a priority!

So, don't forget to prioritize something important to you this week too. It's time we retrain ourselves to be happy!

We LOVE panicled hydrangeas! While most varieties are fantastic for events and larger installations, sometimes they can just get too big for regular, everyday work.

Enter Little Lime and Little Lime Punch! 🍋‍🟩🍹

These varieties produce a much more manageable sized panicle with the same gorgeous coloring as it's bigger relatives, and is easily tucked into hand tied bouquets or vase arrangements.
