On my list of things to do today, which was many, one of those things was to put up what I thought was just a few onions that we had placed outside to dry. Knowing that we have been having some extreme heat and humidity, I knew they wouldn’t last long at all. Well those “few” turned into a heaping 5 gallon bucket full! So with that many, I couldn’t just chop them all, so nothing with nothing else to do, 🙄, I will CAN onion stock. One canning pot full and a crock pot to boot. Yes, it’s too hot to do this, but we can’t waste those beautiful onions and I know without a doubt it will be delicious! 😋

I’m as happy as a kid on Christmas morning y’all! Between no freezers available for sale and these jewels being sold out, I was blessed to find this one on Market Place from a dear lady who had this extra one new in the box from North Carolina! 🎁😁

It’s H O T y’all! Just came in from the garden. I have worked my buns off cleaning, pulling non productive plants, weed eating around the beds and picking a few veggies. I am dripping wet with sweat! It’s time for a cool shower, dry clothes and some crafting. Stay cool my friends and keep hydrated out there!

Update on the coffee dyed curtains following a failed first attempt. I obviously didn’t stir in the coffee in the hot kettle water well enough the first time which resulted in several dark stains. So in the washer with bleach and they were white as snow again. The second attempt I boiled the coffee in the water, placed the damp washed curtains in the pot, let them soak for an hour or so then rinsed them in cold water with vinegar. In the dryer they went follows by a quick ironing. I think they turned out pretty good - they match the kitchen window curtains perfectly! I’m also adding some pictures of the rest of the day which was spent cleaning and reorganizing the kitchen. I. Am. Tired. I hope you all have a great weekend! Stay safe!

Day 1 following my retirement was nothing short of crazy busy! The day started with cutting grass followed by my sister’s impromptu suggestion to rearrange the cabin. Although I have been wanting to do this, it also meant the beginning of purging all unwanted/unnecessary things that needed to go. We accomplished the rearrangement of the living room, cleaned, changed curtains—which I ❤️ (thanks to my sister, Kimberly Hall and Chelsea Rhiner) to the dreadful purge of a few pieces. Needless to say, it’s far from being complete. But thanks to my sister, Kimberly Hall for her all of her help and suggestions and to Alma Price and Chelsea Rhiner, our “living room” is complete. I will tackle the kitchen today and will eventually complete this dreaded but necessary task throughout this entire 728 square foot cabin of ours over the following week, Lord willing and the creek don’t rise 😝

I have been loving being outdoors during this lockdown so much! The garden is the best it has ever been, thanks to rabbit droppings and lots of water. The kids are loving swimming and playing outside plus I have been getting more exercise every day averaging 13,000 to 18,000 steps a day tending to our garden, yard and cabin. I think it’s going to be hard to go back to working full time, lol.
