Princeton and Clear Lake are our farms that have Cut your Own or Precut trees available. St Louis Park, Eden Prairie and Richfield offer a wide selection of Fresh Precut trees.

Had a great time hosting the Becker 2nd grade class at the farm in Clear Lake! Wagonrides, Cliff, Santa, and tire playground were all hits! 320 cookies and 14 gallons of hot chocolate! We were left with a few extra snowmen a couple of mittens and lots of fun memories. It was a great day at the farm!

Caution: Glowing Review for BJ Trees!!
So, life got in the way this year and we couldn’t get a Christmas tree till Dec 17th. We LOVE Christmas, but just couldn’t get a tree earlier. We live in Afton and have tree farms everywhere out here along the river valley.
Apparently there was some massive tree shortage due to drought this year?!? I found this out on the 14th when I started looking for trees. Every tree farm east of the metro was closed. Every tree lot was closed. Big Box Orange Store had sad sad dead tree tops that they called trees, but were 4’ high, needles gone, and trunks about 2-1/2” at the base. Really horrible (which is why we never buy trees from big box stores to begin with, but we were desperate).
I found three choices: a tree farm 1.5 HOURS into Wisconsin; a tree lot in northwest metro that we called and they said they may all be gone by the next day we could make it; and BJ’s tree lot in Richfield. Again, we live in Afton.
My wife drove the 35 miles (45 minutes) to the lot, expecting to find the leftover Charlie Brown trees but was determined to pull the trigger on SOMETHING.
BJ’s (the only tree lot still open we could find in the entire metro area) had trees-a-plenty! I mean, beautiful full HEALTHY green Fraisers and whatever else. We needed a larger tree 9-10’. The crew helped my wife, and she drove out with a huge Fraiser at a great price (not end of the season discount, just great pricing).
We took it off the car. It weighed about 80lbs! Trunk was over 5” in diameter. This thing is like Fangorn! So. Many. Branches. It’s the fullest, most beautiful tree we’ve gotten as adults (we’re old too). In some ways I hated that Fangorn was cut as he was clearly a very healthy Ent. In 12 hours it’s drank 3 gallons of water. No needles dropping at all. Mind you, this tree was wrapped when she bought it. She couldn’t inspect it. So it was also not ‘shaken’ at the lot. It’s crazy big and full and smells like pine and lemons!
THANK YOU BJ’s for the quality and for staying open for us latecomers. THANK YOU for not just having the dregs on your lot near the end of the season, it’s obvious you restocked from your tree farm.
Needless to say, we are now relegated to driving to Richfield every year and making a 35 mile drive home looking like Clark W. Griswald. We’ll be ho-ho-ho-ing all the way home!
