Let it be known, that on the 15th day of October, 2026, I have officially decided that watermelon mead is a bad idea.

I used watermelon juice from fresh melons and fermented it with honey. I tasted it today and it's just terrible. It has a very offputting aroma from the slightly overripe melons. Kind of a rotting fruit vibe.

This experimental batch is going down the drain.

I will also offer a bit of fruit w**e knowledge at this point. I didn't expect it to smell like watermelon because real fruit w**es NEVER smell like the fruit they were made from after fermentation. Just like grape w**es never really smell like grapes. It's true for other fruit as well. If you ever have a fruit w**e that smells exactly like the fruit, what you are smelling is the natural or artificial flavoring they add to the finished w**e.

That is all.

Oh, we're open today and tomorrow 1-6pm and again on Sunday, as usual.

10-2-26. It's a sad day. We lost a glass to a tragic accident. It had NOTHING to do with the fact that I was topping up w**e and doing barrel samples all afternoon.

In other news, we'll have a booth at the Cleburne W**e and Art festival tomorrow (thank you to the volunteers manning the booth!). We'll also be open on Sunday as per usual.
