Our eldest daughter is almost 9 and has shown interest while we discuss the world and all the weird things going on. The questionable beef, the cancerous strawberries, the poopy lettuce, the poopy jalapeños…. And we’ve been afraid of the processed and sliced bread for many years now (so much so that we haven’t bought it in so long that when it’s served by someone else, our kids ask us what tastes weird - but I digress.)
She’s always been interested in shopping so when she gets to go to market I give her a list of things we buy at that market and she goes back and fourth to us to double check her change and store the groceries and check in for safety.
I say all this because I want you guys to know eating less poison and more nourishing foods is within reach and because I wanted to share her childhood POV. Can you imagine her POV?
In TODAYS WORLD?!
“When I was little my mom used to send me with a list to market while my parents worked our booths. I’d buy our groceries for the week, some specialty goat cheese so mom could use most of our goat milk in our soap, our burger buns, the veggies we didn’t grow ourselves or we’d trade my mom’s eggs or mushrooms for beef or our lettuce for bread and that’s how we ate during the greatest depression of our history. Daddy would check my change to make sure my math was right and they’d let us pick something out like my favorite ginger b**r in exchange for good behavior and watching the booth while they ran to the restroom. We’d get to run around with the other market hoodlums and play on the playground till time to load up.”
What a wholesome pov in the midst of all the crazy world and all the worry in it.
Sometimes just looking through someone else’s eyes can be so refreshing. ❤️❤️❤️ Thanks for reading Everly’s pov.
