The Berry Patch

The Berry Patch is a family owned and operated pick-your-own berry farm. Our farm is directed towards being a fun family outing for parents, grandparents and kids of all ages. We have about 20 acres of Blueberries and about 4 acres of blackberries. We also sell Pre-picked blueberries, however the pre-picked berries are NOT from our fields. Since we are predominately a u-pick operation, all of our crops get picked clean by our pickers, so we must look to other growers for our we-pick berries. During June we drive to Arkansas for berries and during July we head to Michigan. Berry prices change from year to year depending on the market, 2015 prices yet to be determined. Aside from our berries, our store contains many other goodies. Our kitchen makes, fresh every day, cobblers, blueberry cinnamon rolls, oatmeal cookies, and our signature secret recipe blueberry muffins. We also sell jams, jellies, syrups, canned veggies, spices, kitchen gadgets, and locally grown honey. For your kids entertainment we have a free fun center consisting of an obstacle course and a large hay bale "maze" to play on. We also have a Berry Train for the younger kids, however the train costs $1.50 a child. Since we have so few acres of blackberries we only have blackberry picking on Tuesday and Saturday mornings. Some of our blackberries are thornless, but the majority of them are not, so we recommend to wear jeans and a long sleeve shirt (and possibly gloves if you feel necessary) if you want to pick blackberries. Of course this is not a requirement, but you may get some pricks if you choose to wear more summery clothes! Plants: We also sell Blueberry plants to grow your own favorite fruit in your backyard. The cost varies from $7-$32, depending on the age of the plant you'd like the purchase. Plant purchases come with a free pamphlet on growing blueberries, and we also sell "Blueberry Special" fertilizer which is $3.50/lb (one pound is enough fertilizer for two plants for one year.) Pets: Please keep in mind that The Berry Patch, like many other farms, has a plethora of animals. If you would like to bring your dog with you to the farm you are more than welcome. But we do have two large Lab dogs who feel it is their duty to protect the farm from strange dogs, so we request you keep your dog on a leash and park away from the store (where our doggies hang out). The Berry Patch is not responsible for scratched cars or dog fights if you choose to bring your pet with you! We would also encourage all parents to practice "safe pet protocols," and make sure your children know to ask before petting an animal they don't know, whether one our farm pets or another customer's!
