🚨 ICYMI: The Cleveland Brewery Is Making a Comeback — This Time in the Flats
As first reported by Marc Bona of cleveland.com, The Cleveland Brewery is preparing for a return after a winding journey that included a sale, relocation, and eventual closure.
The brewery was originally founded by John Fuduric on East 185th Street in 2015 before being sold in late 2022. After a move to Waterloo Road failed to gain traction, new owners Eric Hanson and Ryan Paternite stepped in and purchased the brewery about a year ago.
Now, the pair are renovating brewery space inside Cleveland Whiskey’s facility at 601 Stones Levee in the Flats and hope to begin brewing by July, with a late summer or early fall reopening targeted. Fuduric remains involved as a consultant, helping guide recipes and brewing operations as the brand works toward its next chapter.
According to the report, the long-term vision includes brewery tours, outdoor seating, a future combined beer-and-whiskey destination, event space, and potentially even a barbecue-focused brewpub concept. The location is also positioned to benefit from increased activity in the area, including the upcoming opening of the Cleveland Clinic Global Peak Performance Center and the Cleveland Cavaliers’ new practice facility nearby.
The news is the latest reminder that it remains an interesting time for Cleveland’s Flats district. As NEOCBN and other outlets previously reported — River Roots Barrel Company, a spirits venture backed in part by internationally known Chef Michael Symon — is planning a move to the Flats that includes a small-batch brewery component. Meanwhile, Karl Spiesman of Brick and Barrel Brewing recently announced plans to explore the sale of his brewery after more than a decade in the space, signaling that the neighborhood’s craft beverage landscape continues to evolve. Meanwhile, the original Cleveland Brewery location continues to thrive as Two Friends Brewing, which celebrated one year in business in March. 🍺
