Yesterday our family lost the woman who built this homestead. My grandmother has always loved chickens and has always been my biggest supporter. She was an absolutely incredible woman that loved animals/nature, music, and art. She was loved and cared for by all our family right up to the end. 90 years of such a beautiful life.

I ask everyone to please have some patience as I take time off to grieve.💔

I'm very pleased to see more clean Blue Dark Brahma males being produced!

Idk if it's because we've hatched more numbers, but we've had higher production of clean cockerels that are to date the cleanest birds we've produced/seen! We've definitely made progress on eliminating autosomal pheomelanin expression.
It's important to evaluate autosomal pheomelanin leakage on cockerels at 3-4 months old. Females evaluation at maturity 1-2 years old. 2 years old evaluation for ideal clean females.

eb/eb,S/S,Bl/bl,Pg/Pg,aph+/aph+
Current status homozygous for Autosomal pheomelanin Inhibitors. Still missing/breeding for all polygenic modifiers to completely eliminate expression.

I've decided to skip this Fall NPIP renewal. We have so many grow outs that will be soft culled/rehomed next Spring and I'd rather save my back ache until then. We will renew our NPIP in February-March 2027 for out of state shipping. Until then we will still offer shipping and local pickup in state of MO.

I really have to pat myself on the back for this photo shoot. ☺️ Light and our 1 Blue Light Brahma.

The process:
1. Lure chickens to area with snack.
2. Take video of chicken's.
3. Video capture pictures/crop.
4. Water mark/logo.

No AI and no filters! Just our birds enjoying some yard time.

Lol don't judge them to hard they're not in condition/all dirty. The morning lighting really lit them up!

Actually I don’t think it’s unpopular but….stop using “waffles and stickers” to move your crap eggs.

As in - using said platform to move your old eggs, pullet eggs, torpedo eggs, 70g borderline double yolkers, calcium deficient eggs, 💩 covered eggs, eggs you wouldn’t send a customer paying full price outright…is not cool!

Just because someone may obtain said eggs on a $5 chance doesn’t mean they should get lesser than than someone that paid $200 outright. You still got yo money!! Probably more!! Do better! 🙄

Shipping in hot weather conditions has a high risk of early development, and fertility issues from getting over heated making the egg completely not viable no development at all. Responsibility goes both ways! Responsible breeders will NOT risk shipping in the heat. Stop giving these backyard breeders excuses for poor practices. The whole week of shipping reliably weather conditions should be ideally 75°-45°. Shipping in hot weather conditions isn't just normal poor fertility caused from rough shipping but lack of proper care and responsibility to ensure quality conditions that is on the breeder.
