Worlds collide in the farm yard today.

The four merino bottle babies finally met Liberty, Lilac, and the rest of the horned Valais crew. The babies are treating those horns like they might spontaneously attack, and the Valais are eyeing the chubby merinos like “who let the cloud clowns in?”

A bit like the first day of middle school cafeteria: No one’s quite ready to sit together . Thank goodness the fall colors are warming the vibe. See you at the farm on October 31st!

Sheep are just cool.

Taking a break from the farm by visiting MORE sheep — at my husband’s family home in Ireland.

People have partnered with sheep since the beginning of civilization. Better soil. Natural clothing. Food. Grassland did not evolve under mowers. It evolved under herds that bit the plants, trampled the litter, left dung, and moved on. That is the process that leaves deep, healthy roots and clean air.
