Almost 100 members took to their side-by-sides to participate in Lapeer County Farm Bureau’s inaugural tour of the area’s maple syrup makers.

With temperatures in the 70s today and 80 degrees in the sugar house the season came to a close today. It was a long season coming in at 7 weeks from the time we tapped trees. Boiling 22 days in the month of March. We are going to end up with a record crop of over 1500 gallons of maple syrup made. We are ready to get cleaned up and move on to spring planting.

Late night sap collection, the sap is flowing like crazy today and is going to run all night before the next freeze up. Big boil coming tomorrow. We have made just over 1,000 gallons of syrup so far for the 2026 season.

We couldn’t ask for a better day to have a Sugar Shack Side by Side ride. We were the last of three sugar shacks on the tour and had pancakes and sausage for everyone once we got back.
