Good morning,
As we head into show season and conversations naturally turn toward “show quality” and height, we’d like to take a moment to recognize the diversity within our community.
As with any animal breed—whether horses, dogs, or cats—there are breeders who focus on meeting the breed standard for the show ring, and others who simply enjoy raising and loving these wonderful animals in their everyday lives without showing. Both paths are meaningful, and both play an important role in the strength and spirit of our community.
The Mini Silky Fainting Goat (MSFG) breed standard reflects the vision set forth by the breed’s founders, who had a specific look and purpose in mind. For those who choose to show, that vision serves as the goal.
At the same time, the MSFGA proudly registers all goats with verified pedigrees, regardless of size, horn status, coat, or color. Height requirements apply specifically to show eligibility, helping preserve the original intention of a truly “miniature” Silky goat.
We deeply value each breeder and every goat represented within the MSFGA. Our commitment remains to honor the foundation and intent of the breed while continuing to provide transparency and accessibility to pedigree information for all.
The MSFGA remains grounded in the original design, and the breed standard continues to reflect that consistent vision.
