Little boots + baby heifer lessons 🤍

Della (2) and Bonnie (5) have started halter training Annabelle (born Jan 1, 2026). Right now it’s all about pressure and release — teaching her to give to gentle pressure and rewarding her the second she responds. That release is where the learning happens.

She’s the perfect size for the girls at this stage, and this good weather has given us some extra time to work with her ☀️

Building confidence in all three of them, one step at a time.

Yesterday we had the opportunity to take a heifer to a Bison Hockey game in Bloomington. It was a great experience and a fun way to promote both our farm and our small engine repair shop. We truly appreciate the support from the team and loved sharing a small glimpse of agriculture with their fans.

The Bison Hockey team even offered a jersey to the fan who guessed her weight (or came the closest). Annabelle was definitely tired by the end of the night, but she continues to show just how gentle she’s becoming 🩷 and Bonnie already loves her.

While I’ve been trying to hold off on Bonnie joining the show cattle world, it looks like she may be starting this summer with a very special heifer 🥰 Stay tuned for more information about Annabelle!

Some moments mean more than words.
This is one of them.

Shane, owner and operator of our farm, standing beside his son. He's already finding his place on the farm. It’s a simple picture, but it carries generations of hard work, early mornings, late nights, and a deep love for the land.

Every year the numbers shrink, the fences come down, and stories like ours quietly fade away. But moments like this remind us why we keep going. Why we fight to hold on. Why passing down knowledge, values, and respect for the land matters so much.

Choosing local farms keeps healthy, responsibly raised meat close to home. It strengthens food security, supports your community, and ensures future generations know what real food looks like.

Here’s to tradition, perseverance, and the future of family farms.

For generations, our family has dedicated itself to raising quality cattle and advancing Charolais genetics — a legacy that continues today. We’re proud to have sold out our weaning bulls this season, knowing their genetics will help improve herds far and wide. Grateful for those who came before us and excited for those still to come. ❤️🐄🌾

📣 Big day on the farm today — we weaned calves! 🐮💛

Our purebred Charolais calves are growing up fast and will soon be off to new homes as breeding stock. It’s always a mix of pride and a little tug on the heart to see them move on!

And if you catch the video 📹, you’ll hear our daughter giving her honest (and hilarious) take on the few crossbred calves that are staying here and destined for the freezer. Gotta love farm kids — they tell it like it is! 😂🥩

We’re so proud of the care that goes into raising these animals from day one, and we’re excited to see the Charolais genetics carry on in other herds.

Thanks for following along with our little farm life! 💕🐄

Our cattle are raised with care right here on the farm, and processed at a USDA-inspected facility for quality and peace of mind. Pasture raised - grain finished, enjoy the difference that comes from knowing exactly where your food comes from.

It’s a great way to feed your family with local, flavorful beef — and save money in the long run.

Our kids are gearing up to show their goats at the State Fair — and we couldn't be more proud of their love for their animals!

Win or lose, this is about learning, growing, and making memories that last a lifetime. From feeding chores to show ring nerves, every step teaches responsibility, patience, and passion.

We’re excited to see what they’ll learn, who they’ll meet, and how they’ll grow — both in and out of the ring. 💪💜

Stay tuned for updates and cheer them on with us!

We recently hit the trail with our two toddler daughters and our old, trusted horses — the kind that know every step and carry our most precious cargo with care.

Watching their wide eyes taking in the world from the saddle, reminded us why we love this life. It’s not just about the ride… it’s about passing on the peace, the confidence, and the joy that comes from time spent in the saddle.

Here’s to gentle horses, dirt roads, and raising the next generation with reins in hand and hearts wide open. 💕
