🏇❤️ This photo may show our daughter competing in the flags race, but it also showcases one of the most trusted members of our farm family—Trigger.

While he looks right at home flying through the arena, Trigger's real job is helping us gather and move cattle here at Hilltop Farms. Whether he's bringing cattle up from the pasture, carrying a young rider through their first horse lesson, or helping a kid build confidence in the saddle, he always gives 110%.

One of the things we love most about Trigger is his versatility. He's brave, dependable, and patient enough for beginner riders, yet athletic and willing enough to step into the arena and compete. Horses like him don't come along every day.

Watching our daughter race the flags on the same horse that helps us work cattle is a reminder of how connected farm life really is. The animals we rely on for daily work often become our greatest teachers, helping our kids learn responsibility, confidence, perseverance, and trust.

And while Trigger helps us care for our cattle, we're proud to continue raising quality beef right here on our family farm. We will soon have a steer ready for processing and will be taking reservations for whole and half beef.

⭐🐴 Introducing Keeper of the Stars ("Gunner") 🐴⭐

We're excited to introduce the newest addition to Hilltop Farms—Keeper of the Stars, affectionately known around the barn as "Gunner."

This little colt's name carries a special meaning for our family. He was named in memory of our Grandma Cindy, who recently passed away. Grandma Cindy loved cowboys, horses, and ranching, and it seemed only fitting to honor her with a name that reflects both her spirit and his lineage. His dam's registered name is Star, and his sire is Magician, making Keeper of the Stars the perfect tribute.

While he's still young, we're already looking forward to watching him grow and develop. If all goes well, we hope to see him in the cutting pen one day, carrying on the traditions that Grandma Cindy loved so much.

For now, though, he's busy enjoying life exactly as a foal should—running alongside his mom in the pasture, making new discoveries, and showing off plenty of personality. If you happen to drive by, you might catch him getting the zoomies, bucking, kicking up his heels, and racing across the field. He's incredibly friendly, full of curiosity, and keeps us smiling every day.

In true cowboy fashion, his barn name will be Gunner.

We can't wait to watch this little guy's story unfold. ❤️

It's More Than Just Showing Livestock

One of the greatest benefits of growing up on a farm is learning life skills that will last long after the show is over. A firm handshake, looking someone in the eye, showing respect, accepting both wins and losses with grace, responsibility, hard work, and good sportsmanship—these are lessons that can't always be taught in a classroom.

The lessons learned on the farm last a lifetime.

Happy Fourth of July from Hilltop Farms!

This photo is a reminder that freedom isn't just celebrated on holidays—it's lived every day through hard work, family traditions, and the opportunity to make a living doing what we love. We're thankful for the generations of farmers and ranchers who came before us, and for the chance to pass these values on to our children.

Most of all, we thank God for His many blessings—our family, our health, this land, the animals entrusted to our care, and the freedom to live and work in this great country. We are truly blessed beyond measure.

Today, we honor the sacrifices made for our freedom and give thanks to God for guiding us through each season of life.

We are incredibly proud of our daughter for earning Pee-Wee Champion Showmanship at this year's fair! 🏆🐄

A huge congratulations to her for all the hard work, dedication, and time she puts into caring for and showing her animals. It's wonderful to see that effort recognized in the show ring.

We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to Tractor Supply Co. in Clinton, IL for their generous sponsorship and donation of the clippers awarded to the champion. Support from local businesses helps encourage and reward the next generation of agricultural leaders, and we truly appreciate your investment in our youth.

Little boots + baby heifer lessons 🤍

Della (2) and Bonnie (5) have started halter training Annabelle (born Jan 1, 2026). Right now it’s all about pressure and release — teaching her to give to gentle pressure and rewarding her the second she responds. That release is where the learning happens.

She’s the perfect size for the girls at this stage, and this good weather has given us some extra time to work with her ☀️

Building confidence in all three of them, one step at a time.
