A Farmer's Journey is Made Possible by Many Footprints
A friend helped me to think this through and leant appreciation of all of the hands and footprints that helped her to be ever present and appreciative of the path she chose in agriculture which is to be an urban farmer - That friend is me-
This is how it goes...
No field is framed by fence or stone alone,
No harvest reaped in solitary soil;
The seed we sow, the quiet acres grown,
Are bound to neighbors by a shared turmoil.
For drought will cross the imaginary line,
And frost cares nothing for a deed or name,
Yet when our hands and heavy hearts align,
We weather storms no single force could tame.
The tractor stuck within the morning clay
Is pulled to traction by a friend's strong chain;
We trade our labor through the longest day,
And share the shelter from the driving rain.
A tide of purpose rises when we stand
Together, side by side, through lean and yield—
A rising sea that lifts each ship and land,
And keeps alive the dream in every field.
So remember- no farmer is an island- Reach Out, up and around- the hands and footprints are plentiful and eager to aid a kindred spirit in the land of the growing.
Keep on growing!!
