We're looking at another beautiful day on our beautiful island! This morning, we'll be out in the high tunnel with volunteers, taking down the cherry tomatoes plants that were so productive all summer to make room for fall and winter greens. Want to join us? The work goes quickly and the conversation is always lively! 9-11am. (While it looks like there are still lots of tomatoes to harvest, they are truly past their prime...but you're welcome to try them if you want.)

Our efforts at Keystone continue! Our shared goal, with the Whidbey Camano Land Trust is to establish some regenerative practices for the public to engage with and to prepare the ag acreage for future farm success. This includes continuing to figure out irrigation, managing weeds, working on soil development/fertility, and deciding where to put some perimeter fencing for sheep and poultry. Our volunteers are stellar so while our progress may be slow, it's very steady! Here are a few pics from the year...

Expanding our perceptions of "productive land" and recognizing that we are all land stewards (in what we care for or not)...that's what a good workshop can do! We just spent two days with Sierra Smith of WSU Extension Thurston County, learning more about "The Human Habitat: Integrated Land Management."
