After six years of courageously battling cancer, Mike is in his final days – or as Mike would say, “I’m outta here!”

Mike is at Regency in Coupeville. He is resting well and in good humor. If you would like to leave a message here on Facebook, we’ll read it to him - he has been so appreciative of the messages he’s received thus far and is responding to them.

Please share this post to others who know Mike.

When Mike entered this world, they broke the mold. Whidbey won’t be the same without him.

For those that do believe the Pompeii Tomato is one of the BEST saucing tomatoes about, starting a 'Pomeii Forest' in the hoop house! Elongated and meaty, this heirloom has been endowed with a new hybrid vigor for heavy harvests over an extended growing season. Seasoned well, one of my favorites for a slow-cooked evening meal!

WGG uses a seed-starter from the folks at Pro-Mix that has already incorporated mycorrhizae into the blend. So, if you're using Mikey's plants/starts, don't have to futz with a bucket of muddy water at transplanting time!

Mycorrhizae has become a popular organic tool for home gardeners to boost plant health and yield. Here's how to use it.

If you've been here shopping in our greenhouses already this spring, you may have seen these signs posted on the tables warning about protecting your plants until late April or early May. Tonight's forecast may bring frost, so we recommend covering or bringing any tender annuals inside overnight as long as the threat of frost persists. By the first of May we should be in the clear!

A sign in a nursery in Whatcom County, WA…
While South Whidbey may be past the freezing caution, present cooler evening temperatures (below 50) and those tender, newly-propagated plants you are purchasing from WGG & other plant retailers might do just as well or better sitting in the pot they are in presently unless they’re fully rooted.
